The Word Ubuntu has its origin in the Bantu Languages
of Southern Africa. It is a classical african concept.
Ubuntu has its roots in the Debian GNU/Linux
distribution.

South Africa : “zulu” (maxim: umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu)
Zimbabwe : “unhu” (Shona: munhu munhu nekuda kwevanhu)
5. 2006 – LTS Release
First “Long Term Support” Release of Ubuntu. They are
decided to provide with 18 months of free security &
maintenance.
Ubuntu 6.06 LTS (“Dapper Drake”) in June.
With that they also serve single live cd, in which there was a
formal Server Edition.
6. 2008 – Second LTS Version
After One and Half year they released Second Long Term
Support version. April 2008,
Ubuntu 8.04 LTS
Later that year, they released with feature is the Windows
installer for Ubuntu. Oct. 2008,
Ubuntu 8.10 (“Wubi”)
7. 2009 – Ubuntu get Popularism
At April 2009 they include the Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR)
for small screen Netbook devices.
Ubuntu 9.04
Now we are celebrating the current version of Ubuntu with
more additional features released in October 2009.
