Note: MDWise and MHS: contact the Medically Frail Manager to make the appeal. They will look at documentation and/or call you back for more information. (See later slides on helpful phone numbers)
Note: Anthem: call the main number and request that an appeal be made. Anthem’s policy for determining medically frail status is to consider only their own records (Insurance claims for doctor visits etc.) since the member has been active with HIP Anthem. No other information will be looked at or considered. Anthem does not share the contact information for their medically frail managers. If the member has not made any claims, then there is no documentation for them to consider at the beginning of the year. They suggest calling back in 3 months after the individual has accumulated more documentation through insurance claims.
Benefits: Basically the same:
Doctors:
Major medical systems (IU Health, St. Vincent, St. Francis, Eskenazi) accept all three
Centerstone and Amethyst Accept all three – However, Anthem does not currently pay for many of the therapists at Centerstone, so inc some cases, it can sometimes delay the start of treatment while a paneled therapist becomes available.
Doctors who do not currently accept MD Wise or MHS (This is changing so check with your doctor)
Premier Healthcare & IMA
Fairbanks(Indy) Valle Vista (Greenwood), StoneBelt (Evansville)
*Fairbanks is reportedly working to get paneled with MDWise
Smaller, individual, independent providers who have not become paneled with MDWise or MHS
