3. • The photograph “natural beauty” was taken at the
University of Texas at Dallas.
• This Species is known as the Great Spangled Fritillary
and is found in North America and some Southern
states.
• This was taken in early December when most
Butterflies migrate south due to warmer weather.
The beauty of nature inspires me to want to capture and
preserve it. Photographers for National Geographic have
long been the people that I look up to because of the
beauty of their shots.
However, there is a particular Photographer close to
home who I think does justice to when it comes to
preserving. Stephen Jay is young in the field, but his work
is exquisit.
5. • The birds in this picture is known as the Scarlet
Ibis and is one of the National Birds of Trinidad
and Tobago.
• It resides in the Caroni Bird Sanctuary which is
located in the Caroni Swamp – an area set aside
by the government for the protection of these
birds.
• Several thousand Scarlet Ibises nest in the
Sanctuary and can be seen in large number
during the last couple of hours of daylight.
• The birds feed mainly on crab which they seek
out in the mud flats of the red mangrove. It is the
crustaceans in their diet that give these birds
their magnificent colour.

7. I think that both photographs captures nature at
its best. However the equipment used brings
out the best in one over the other. Whilst I only
used my camera phone, Stephen used an SLR
camera, which is designed to filter light and take
better photos. The proper use of such camera as
well as the use of Photoshop enhances the
picture in more ways than one.
