1. Note Taking

Directions:
 • Take notes of what you are hearing (documenting) and what you are learning (reflecting) in different media
   (text, mindmap, doodle-map, images, blog, etc.)
 • edit and format your “notes”

   and a global audience.

2. Interview
Apps Suggestions: iMovie ($4.99), AudioBoo (free)

Directions:
You will interview a real, historic, or fictitious person. Ask them about a specific event in their lives (historic
period, eye witness event, family story, contribution to society, expert advice, etc.)
 • Script introduction to the person you are interviewing, give background information about the person. and
    formulate interview questions.
 • If using iMovie: Take an image of the real person you are interviewing (and maybe the surroundings/
    settings) or find and download an image (licensed under Creative Commons) of a fictitious person and
    pertinent images that would go with your interview. Import the images.
 • Record the audio of the interview
 • Keep your interview between 3-5 minutes

3. Book Recommendation
Apps Suggestions: Sonic Pics Lite (free) StoryRobe ($0.99) , StoryKit (free)

Directions:
 1. Decide on a book that you would like to recommend to a specific audience (your students, book club, parent
    community, teacher colleague, administrators, etc.)
 2. Write a short script to summarize the book, highlight why you feel your audience would like/benefit from
    reading it. Add further resources (links, websites, movies, other books on the topic, etc.) about the setting,
    characters, topic, author, etc.
 3. Find 5 visuals/images online to include in your recommendation.
 4. Use Sonic Pics Lite and import the images, then record your script, advancing the slides as you are recording
 5. The Book recommendation is to be between 90 seconds and 3 Minutes

4. Comic Strip.

Comic Strip ($0.99), Cartoon Studio Free ( Free), Halftone (0.99)

Directions:
You will develop a comic strip. Convey a message, an invented or true story, express interesting information
about the topic of your choice.
(Ex. A current news event, cyberbullying, Facebook etiquette, Using iPads in the classroom, a holiday, a funny
story, etc.)
 • Storyboard your comic, by deciding on your story, setting, characters, dialogue
 • Have 3-5 related images in your iPads Photo Album (take your own images or search for creative commons
    or public domain images online)
 • Use a Comic creation app of your choice.
 • Choose a layout to accommodate the number of your images
 • Import your images from the Camera roll or take you own images with the iPad’s camera.
 • Add speech bubbles and stickers (if available)

5. Tutorial Design

Directions:
 • Choose one of the above screenrecording witheboards.
 • Create a step by step Math tutorial for students (choose a grade level) or a tutorial that showcasing you
   favorite iPad app, you want your students to start using (take screenshots of your app to be included in
   tutorial)
 • Your tutorial should not be longer than 3 minutes

•With SchowmeApp: Share the tutorial clip by uploading it to ShowMeApp.com from within the app. You will
need to create an account when prompted.
•With ScreenChomp: send it to the “cloud”after recording is complete, you will receive a unique URL (Web
address).

6.Create a QR Code

Apps Suggestions: Qrafter Pro - Scanner and Generator ($2.99) or Goo.gl (web based) & Scan (free)

Directions:
•Choose a physical object (book, building, poster, art work, model, map, etc.) and create (with another app) or
find a virtual connection. This could be an audio file, a movie, a website, google map, etc.
•Using the QR Generator create a QR code.

7.Early Elementary
Game Design &
Interactive Books
Apps Suggestions: Tiny Tap (free)

Directions:
1. Brainstorm a theme or topic for the game/interactive book. Think about what can you learn from photos?
What kind of skills do you want users to practice? Vocabulary? Target language?
2. Create a flowchart/storyboard for your story/images.
3. Find, choose or take your own images. Keep in mind areas that you want users to recognize, match, find,
select or discover something.
4. Import images.
5. Choose a book cover image and record a “question”, inviting the user to play and learn with the book. Trace
the entire image as the correct area. Users will have to tap the screen to start the game/book. The image
automatically advances to the next page when tapped on.
6. Create multiple pages that increase in skill level, offer diverse practice opportunities, include a
complementary content area or combine different approaches to practice skills.
7. Record several questions for each image and add positive responses as well as a “try again”type responses.

Share: Email the game to a colleague with an iPad or upload the game file to a classroom website.

8. Book Creator

Directions:
1.Decide intended age/grade level for your book. Outline a story with characters, setting, plot, introduction,
climax, conclusion, etc. or the content of an informational book.
2. Find, shoot or create your own images then insert into your book
3. Add text to your book
4. Add sound to your book
5. Add links to your book
6. Add video to your book
7. Format pages, text, video and/or images

9. Early Elementary-

Apps Suggestions: Little Story Maker (free)

Directions:
1. Brainstorm a storyline for your book. Keep in mind the vocabulary, grammar structures, sight words, etc. you
would like to use.
2. Import or take images for your story.
3. Create pages by adding an image and text
4. Customize words and sounds: Record your voice reading the text. Manually slide the words to their place in
the recording.
5. Customize Picture Highlights: Add “highlights” to areas of the image, add text and record the text.

10. Visual Dictionary

Apps Suggestions: Pic Collage (free)

Directions:
1. Decide on the vocabulary, terms or definitions you would like to represent on your page(s).
2. Find and save images to your iPad (think Public Domains or Creative Commons) or take your own images
with the iPad’s built in camera.
3. Add the chosen images to a Pic Collage page.
4. Choose a background (choose from existing backgrounds or search on web).
5. Edit the images by “clipping the photo”, resizing and rotating the object.
6. Add text to each object (ex. target language vocabulary, science definition, math terms, sight words,etc.).
7. Save image in your Photo Album.
8. Add a new album > name your album “Your Name’s Dictionary”.
9. Add your dictionary page image into your new album.

Think about what can you learn from photos? What kind of skills do you want users to practice? Vocabulary? Target language? 2. Create a flowchart/storyboard for your story/images. 3. Find, choose or take your own images. Keep in mind areas that you want users to recognize, match, find, select or discover something. 4. Import images. 5. Choose a book cover image and record a “question”, inviting the user to play and learn with the book. Trace the entire image as the correct area.
