important. The quality of the method can determine whether or not your family is getting
something clean and pure. If asked to explain water purification you should know some of the
basics.
The water treatment process used by the treatment facilities are quite different than those used at
home. Reverse osmosis or ultra filtration is one of the steps used by the facilities, but not a good
choice for the home, due to excessive cost, waste and the failure to remove the trace chemical
contaminants that are causing many of our health problems.
Many people assume that going the bottled route is the only way to go. But ask them to try to
explain water purification choices for bottling manufacturers. Most likely they won’t have a
clue.
It is difficult to understand the steps that go into an effective water purification process or even
an ineffective one. The safest and cleanest choice is a kitchen filtration device that includes a
carbon block, a multi-media filter, micron-filter and ion exchange. It will also be less expensive
than the bottled alternative.
Bottles will always cost more than simply using the faucet of your own sink. And, you can never
be sure that the bottling company does not use an inferior water purification process.

purchased 31 million bottles in 2006. These bottles add to the waste that is putting severe strains
on our natural resources.
If you’re using bottled, you still have to worry about contamination. This is because the federal
government has guidelines that allow for small levels of many harmful materials. Some scary
examples include lead, insecticides, septic tank cleaner, pharmaceutical drugs and more. Don’t
leave this little tidbit out when you explain water purification to your friends and family.
The idea of a water purification process that leaves all of those things “in” and finds them
acceptable is un-acceptable for my family. We want natural nutrients that give it a nice
mountain spring flavor and nothing else. Now, when I explain water purification, I mention that
