2 Camera installation
2.1 Installation in local network
Follow the camera suppliers guide on how to install the camera.
We recommend to set a static IP address of the camera instead of using DHCP when
possible since it makes it easier to configure the router and myABELL.
For example if DHCP interval is between 192.168.1.50 and 192.168.1.200 we recommend to
set a static IP of first camera to 192.168.1.11, the second to 192.168.1.12 etc so it is set
outside the DHCP.
2.2 Configure router for live view
When the camera works in the local network it is time to make sure it is accessible from
internet.
A port forward needs to be done for each camera in the router.
Important, the same port should be used both internal and external otherwise the live
view from myABELL will not work correct.
For example an installation with one camera
Camera configuration Router configuration
IP 192.168.1.11 port 80 Forward port 80 to 192.168.1.11
For example an installation with two cameras
Camera configuration Router configuration
Camera 1
IP 192.168.1.11 port 8081 Forward port 8081 to 192.168.1.11
Camera 2
IP 192.168.1.12 port 8082 Forward port 8082 to 192.168.1.12

2.6 Unkown (unsupported) cameras
It is possible to connect most cameras to myABELL even if we don’t support it and can’t give
any guarantee that it will work.
Select the Unkown camera model and type in a URL to get a jpg image.
It is mandatory to have a URL to a large image.
Important! The URL should be without the starting http://
One example: //snapshot/view0.jpg
The URL could contain arguments if it is necessary for the camera
One example: /cgi-bin/video.jpg?size=1
If possible, also enter an URL to a small image which will be used in the Multi Camera view
to speed up the viewing speed.
Example:
2.6.1 D-Link DCS-2100, DCS-2000, DCS-5300
Mandatory URL: /cgi-bin/video.jpg?size=1
Optional URL: /cgi-bin/video.jpg?size=3

HTTP port
Port 80 is default for HTTP (port 443 is default for HTTPS)
For customers that have more than one camera we recommend to change the port for
camera one to 8081, camera two to 8082 etc
The change is done in the camera setup and the corresponding port number should be set in
myABELL.
Connect using HTTP/HTTPS
Select it the camera is access using HTTP or HTTPS (encrypted traffic)
There are also two more options HTTP Proxy and HTTPS Proxy
The proxy is a function where all images are routed via myABELL.
For example in Android 4 and Internet Explorer this is necessary to get it to work.
When using Android 4 and Internet Explorer, myABELL will automatically change that
connection to Proxy while it is being viewed.
The proxy is very good for many things. For example it makes live view works in many
different environment, reduce the need of static local IP for the camera and could be used to
increase the security.
The drawback is that all images has to be routed out from the local network to internet and
then to the device that are viewing them. For external viewing there is not much difference in
view speed. On local network the viewing speed will be slower than direct access since it
traffic has to go out to internet and then back again.
Local LAN IP
The local IP address of the camera on the local LAN.
This is not mandatory information. If it is empty, then the live view will use HTTP/HTTPS
Proxy to access the camera using the public/external IP address.
Public/external IP
If most cases this will be the same IP address as the LS-30 has and it will display that
address as default. No change is necessary.
If the public/external IP of the LS-30 will change it will automatically update it for the camera
also.
Only when the camera is connected directly to internet with its own public IP a new IP needs
to be entered here.
