2. Birth Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Theodor Robert Geisel and Henrietta Geisel. His full name is Theodor Seuss Geisel. His nickname is Ted.
3. Likes and Dislikes Theodor loves Switzerland's views and scenery. He did not like people criticizing his work especially his editors this happened on his first book he tried making called A Story That No one could Beat. He loves wearing hats, and he likes to smile, and laugh and enjoy his life.
4. Education He had a very happy childhood. He took piano lessons. Theodor was usually a B- student, all except for math, math was very hard for him, but he loved school, especially fun activities. He had a good sense of humor too! In high school he was the joke editor of the year book. He had a part in the senior play and he even was secretary of student senate. His art teacher recommended he go to Dartmouth College. He started college in 1921 and graduated in 1925.
5. Family Theodor has two parents and two sisters. He had no children. He got married when he and his former classmate, Helen Palmer, were on a motorcycle and went off road and landed in a ditch. They were okay, but that’s when Theodor asked Helen if she would marry him. She said “yes!” They got married on November 29, 1927.
6. HOW AND WHY FAMOUS He first started out by just drawing cartoons. When he was older he started drawing ads for a lot of companies. Several of his famous animals that he drew were in magazine covers, in ads and in cartoons! He is famous for his drawings and children’s books he wrote and illustrated. Many of his books are all in rhyme like The Cat In The Hat.

There even is a section in Disney World dedicated to Dr. Seuss. It has a Dr.Seuss coaster and clock and the scenery looks just like Whoville His book“If I Ran the Zoo,” published in 1950, is the first recorded use of the word “nerd.”
