The Beauty of the black Widow
Gordon Grice is fascinated, maybe obsessed with the black widow. He begins provocatively " I
hunt black widows. I capture it. I have found them in discarded wheels and tires and under railroads
tires. I have found them in house foundations and cellars...I have found them I hospitals and in the
den of the rattlesnake.... (176) In this quote Grice start with first person in place and with the
repetition of "I" so that the reader can get the attention into it. Grice's purpose in the " Black widow"
essay is to inform the audience about the widow's life style. He shows inspiration, fascination,
respect and love for widows. He furthers his purpose by using rhetorical strategies throughout his

that instead of been afraid ad kill widows, we should take care of them, gave them love as if they

Abstract
There are a lot of disasters, but earthquake is the worst out of all. In this Research we can find out
how an earthquake happens, the main reasons of why it happens and measures how a person can
get out of such a situation. Earthquakes are the shock waves which happen for approximately half a
minute. Taking references from books and journals it can be seen what a person should do during an
earthquake and how this natural calamity can be measured and steps that government takes to find
out where will this disaster show its power the next time.

Teens today are bombarded with multiple types of external and internal conflicts. AIDS and other
STD's impact the way they live externally; depression and suicide can govern their internal lives.
However, religious tolerance grabs at both their internal and external lives. The biased media always
attempts to push teens' beliefs one way or another, yet it is the choice of the individual to which
counts in the end. ApologeticsIndex.org defines religious tolerance as "Acknowledging and
supporting that individuals have the right and freedom to their own beliefs and related legitimate
practices, without necessarily validating those beliefs or practices." It also defines religious

The first is where there is an extreme reluctance to change (e.g. Islam in the Middle East). The other
comes in a form where change has happened all too rapidly. For example, secular countries like
America and others in Europe have gone from origins in religion, to actually putting down religion
(mainly through the media; Bernard Goldberg, Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media
Distort the News). Saying that religious intolerance is a problem is a massive understatement and
the numbers certainly do not lie.
In a study by the University of North Carolina, a poll was taken of seniors in high school about
organized religion. An astonishing one third of seniors felt alienated by organized religion. Of
these numbers, half the students felt hostile towards organized religion and another half felt no
emotions towards it. One third is not a majority, but a whole third of the adult population is an
alarming number. In this trend, it is to be expected that nearly 50% of youth will feel threatened by
organized religion in little more than a decade (The Empty Church : Does Organized Religion
Matter Anymore by Thomas C. Reeves). In a Youth Gallup Poll (ages 13
–17), 40% of youth who are
identified as "non–churchgoers" agree that "most Muslims around the world are accepting of other
religions." This number compares to only 27% of "churchgoers" who believe Muslims are
religiously tolerant. This is a stark contrast. Are

Expository Essay: Chapter 1-6
The chapter starts off with a quote by one of the greatest poets, Robert Frost, and he says, "But
God's own descent into flesh was meant as a demonstration" (Yancey 127). When I read the whole
quote, I was really confused. I did not understand it. The first three lines, however, I could
understand. God became human, which could be a demonstration. He took on the form of flesh
because he wanted to show the world that the Savior was here to save us. The only way he can
save us is if he became one of us. Therefore, God becoming a human could be a demonstration. I
agree with Yancey when he wonders how different the world would be ifJesus did not resurrect from
the dead (128). Would Christianity still exist today? Would the apostles still be afraid of spreading
the Good News? There are so many questions about what would happen if Jesus did not resurrect
himself from the dead, but those questions will never be answered because Jesus did resurrect from
the dead and saved us.
One thing I found interesting in this chapter was when an angel asked the apostles, "Men of
Galilee, why do you stand here looking into the sky?" (Yancey 129). I would be dumbfounded like
the apostles if I witnessed Jesus ascending into the sky. It would have looked so cool, but I
understand why the apostles were actually...show more content...
This quote could not be truer. The apostles will become targets once Jesus ascends. They will be
ridiculed, mocked, and persecuted because of the things they preached and believed. Despite all of
this, the apostles persevered and spread the Good News until the very end. When I saw the quote,
one thing came to my mind the most. All of the apostles except one died violent deaths because the
apostles they would not stop preaching. That made me realize Jesus' words were so true, and Jesus
knew what was going to happen to his

Essay on Volcanoes
Volcanoes
Volcanoes are natural phenomena which are on the Earth's surface through which molten rock and
gases escape from below the surface (Tarbuck, 139). These volcanoes are very interesting to
observe and to study because of their amazing occurrences and majestic lava eruptions. Volcanoes
have been studied ever since the beginning of mankind and the word "volcano" is thought to be
derived from Vulcano, a volcanic island in the Aeolian Islands of Italy whose name in turn
originates from Vulcan, the name of a god of fire in Roman mythology. Consisting of several types,
volcanoes can extrude several forms of magma and can also release multiple gases. These extruded
materials can affect the Earth's structure and atmosphere.
There are...show more content...
Last but not least, composite volcanoes also make up some of the earth's surface. Composite
volcanoes have a conical shape, with a steep summit area and gradually sloping flanks, and are
nearly symmetrical in structure (Tarbuck, 141). These volcanoes release silica–rich and gaseous
magma that is highly viscous and travels very short distances. These three types of volcanoes that
occupy the earth have seemingly different physical characteristics and behavioral changes.
A volcanic eruption is one of the most dangerous and eventful natural disasters that can take place.
During these eruptions, several factors are taken into account. Each type of volcano discussed above
has a different form of lava: one's might be highly fluid and the other might be very viscous. Lava
can take many shapes as it is extruded from a volcano. One such form is that of pahoehoe.
Usually common on the Hawaiian volcanoes, pahoehoe is a form of lava which is smooth and
ropy and causes by the congealment of lava as it is released from the volcano (Williams, 32).
Another form of lava is one that is named aa. This lava consists of jumbles of rough, clinkery, and
spinose fragments, ranging from small chips to blocks measuring meters on a side (Williams, 37).
Aa flows are cool and thick and can advance at rates between 5 and 50 meters per hour (Tarbuck,
145). Lava can also take a block formation

The Importance Of Expository Reading
Expository text is a very important form of reading material that is used to present content in
different ways. Starting as early as kindergarten, children should be able to identify the main topic,
ask and answer questions, and describe connections between two different pieces of information
(Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Teachers have problems with studentsreading expository
text. It is sometimes more difficult to read than just regular story reading. Hebert, Bohaty, Nelson,
and Brown conducted a meta–analysis on text structure instruction, concluding that it was an
effective way to improve expository reading comprehension (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty,
2017).
Different strategies were developed to help with understanding expository reading comprehension.
Teachers play a big role in helping the students understand. They have to begin with clear learning
objectives that outlines the skills teachers want their students to demonstrate by the end of the
instruction (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Once the teacher decides on the learning
objective, they can plan specific instructional strategies to help students achieve the objectives. If
there is a clear goal from the teacher, things will be easier on the students. Identification strategies is
a good start in recognizing the structure of an expository text. There are two possible goals of
identification strategies: to recognize a single text structure or to discriminate among several

How to Analyze an Expository Essay
Expository writing, in general, is present everywhere. When you pick up a magazine or examine a
newspaper article on the newsstand, you are reading a form of exposition because the author's
main purpose of writing that article or essay is to inform the reader about a topic. In the classroom,
many students are required to produce research papers about a specific topic, such as migration
patterns of birds. The purpose of that research paper is to inform the reader, the teacher, about what
are the migratory patterns of birds. Finally, at the workplace, many people are required to create
business reports and memorandums to inform their supervisors and co–workers about the company's
finances and progress. In order to analyze these expository...show more content...
"Good" directions for a process essay should satisfy the following criteria: clear, concise,
organized, and acknowledges common mistakes. Within the model essay itself, it satisfies all of
these requirements. The text describes, "when you find water becoming extremely hot (or
cold)," the homeowner suggests that the guest, "exit the tub promptly while using a sweeping
motion with one arm to push shower curtain aside"(Frazier 303). This piece of direction is clear
because it plainly informs the guest on the actual action they have to perform in order to prevent
hot or cold water from burning or freezing the guest. It is also concise because it does not include
any irrelevant information pertaining to avoiding burning or freezing the guest. This essay is
organized because when the author listed out his or her directions, he or she listed them out in
chronological order. Lastly, "How to Operate the Shower Curtain" acknowledges common
mistakes, such as "REMEMBER TO KEEP SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE TUB AT ALL TIMES!"
(Frasier 303). The author is cautioning the guest to keep the shower curtain within the bath tub no
matter what. The reason for determining the kind of expository essay it is to help in determining
the purpose of the exposition as a whole. Next, the third step to analyzing an expository essay is to
perform the

Life Of Pi Expository Essay
To discover is to progress, experience and to transform. As one encounters discovery, an individual
may encounter a transformative experience that most certainly can lead to new perceptions of
others and ourselves. These ideas portrayed about how discoveries are transformative, is effectively
exemplified in the poem " The Road not taken" by Robert Frost. Which conveys how discoveries
can push one into a wider world full of possibilities, which may transform one immensely introducing
new perceptions of them selves and others. This concept is also shown in Ang lee's film 'Life of Pi'.

The appealing nature of the bud represents the luscious life–giving Island during the day, however
the rotten tooth symbolises the carnivorous nature of the island during the nighttime. The toxicness
of the island, forces Pi to continue his discovery for salvation in order to live with humanity, due to
the fatal repercussions of a life lived without humanity. Which conveys how through discoveries
ramifications most certainly arise which as a result alters ones perceptions of themselves and their
surroundings in order to survive which aims to transform one for the better.
Likewise this concept is significantly portrayed in the road not taken, demonstrated in 'the lines " I
shall be telling this with a sigh" the first person narration indicates a change in tone, displaying a
sense of regret in which discoveries can introduce as a result of ones choices in embarking a
discovery in which shifts ones perceptions on themselves and the wider world hence transforming

Essay about Prejudice
Missing Formatting
In today's world, there are many social issues, like poverty, vandalism and unemployment.
However, prejudice has become the most dramatic one. Prejudging people for their appearance is a
common practice that humans perform. People are not only ridiculed for their color, but also by
their religion, sex or age. Therefore, I consider that racism, ageism and sexism are the three major
problems in our society and we need to cease them immediately. Much of our world's history were
based upon racism. In the 1600's, white men used Africans as slaves and treated them as they were
not human. "Colored" people were not even allowed to use the same drinking fountains as white
people. Fortunately, in the last three decades, race...show more content...
The most popular watched sport in America, NBA basketball, is played by over 87% of the
African decent. Nevertheless, racism is still a issue that will never completely go away. Ageism
is also a worrying problem in our society. Though many people think that this is not a serious
problem, people are being harassed about their age everyday, whether they are "too young" or
"too old". I have dealt with this problem myself, as many other teenagers have. When I walk into
some stores, I am asked to leave my purse at the counter and I am often followed around by
employees. They watch every move I make to make sure that I will not steal anything. I know that
theft is a dilemma that many businesses have to deal with , but when it gets to the point of being
untrusted due to your age, it is completely ridiculous and inappropriate. Men and women have
never been equal in the world and that is what we call sexism. For example, if a man and a woman
who have the same knowledge ask for the same job, the boss will probably pick the man. Even
though they both get the job, the man will maybe have a better salary than the woman. People
always believe that men work better than women but no one can give a satisfying explication to
support that thought. Fortunately, sexism is decreasing constantly but it will never diminish to the
point of complete equality. We can never judge someone by their

Expository Essay: Rough Draft Everyone can feel, just like you and I, but there's one important
question that lingers through the air. Should we really be accepting of other people? To answer
the question, yes! Although this does speak from opinion, it's essential to be accepting of others.
It's understandable to find laboriousness when looking through others, but we need to remember
the reasons why it's imperative. To start off, we're all the same! We're all people, but sometimes,
we seem to overlook that part of us. We all process the same way, and I feel as if that's a good
enough reason to find acceptance. Something else to remember is that we all have emotions. When
we don't accept eachother for who we are, our emotions can get

Individuals can have specific preferences and needs due to different backgrounds, culture and/or

Also, we should encourage and praise them to do their routines as most as they can do to promote
their independence. Some equipment and aids can be helpful to achieve more independence.

Everything Wrong With School In 10 Minutes or Less!
When I was twelve, I had no appreciation for school. I saw it as nothing more as a glorified
daycare center with all the rules and regulations specifically designed to restrict as much fun as
possible. Then one day in the ninth grade, I had a revelation: what if school was actually meant to
build me up with knowledge and facts and not just waste my time? This was the foundation I
needed to get me through the next four years. Whenever I was bored, I would remind myself that I
'd never have a "free" education like this again. I adapted particularly well to this system of tests,
quizzes, and science labs but I could never understand the hang up some people had with it. School
was basic and easy and all it seemed to require was consistency an+d proper scheduling. I looked at
people who couldn 't understand US History or Geometry and I thought they were dumb. It wasn 't
until much later with much more reflection that I came to conclude there 's a difference between
how you score on the SATs and how smart you actually are. Education isn 't necessarily a direct line
to becoming intelligent and knowledgeable; education is nothing more than an institution designed
to equip people with subsets of specialized processing methodologies, algorithms, and a fair bit of
esoteric trivia. Furthermore, the current educational system in place is inefficient because of its rigid
nature.

Essay on Determination
Some people believe that talent and a winning attitude are all you need in order to succeed in your
endeavors, but a winning attitude means having determination, which many people lack. As seen on
wisdomforthesoul.org, "Real leaders are ordinary people with extraordinary determination."
Determination is an important factor in the overall success or failure of a person's efforts.
Unfortunately, determination is not something that comes easy to the majority of people. To be truly
determined, a person must first be passionate about what they're doing. Passion, however, is only the
first step towards resolution and determination. One must have a clear goal in mind, and be willing to
do anything to achieve said goal. Once they have set...show more content...
(www.merriam–webster.com) This is synonymous with my personal definition of determination.
When the end is decided upon, there is no reason or desire to change said goal. A person under
the influence of determination is comparable to a train. The train will not change its direction, as
it cannot, and no matter what, the train will continue along the tracks until it either reaches its
destination, or is stopped by the conductor. For as an example, my plan after high school is to go
to college, and then move into the professional world. When confronted about possibly wanting to
join the military, my answer is absolutely not. Going to college right after high school has always
been my mindset, and there's no way my determination will let that change. I am the metaphorical
train, because my destination is set, and there's no chance for me to adjust my direction. I will not
stray from my goal, because it would mean wrecking myself and all those involved in my
endeavors. There will be mountains in front of me, and people I may have to run over to reach my
goal, but when one's mind is set, they will not waver, and neither will I.
Another dictionary defines determination as firmness of purpose (thefreedictionary.com). When one
is determined, they are ready for what life throws at them, because no matter how obscure the path
may be, they always have a clear view of their final destination. To be determined means to always

Reflection Of Expository Writing

Reflective Essay
I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to
communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly what I'm trying to put forth to others and
convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work
in teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the
language of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at work or school, or in society. Since
everyone does not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important
in any environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and
how to find answers to things I do not know. Most important I have learned how to believe in my
writing.
I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years.
When I took the placement test for reading and English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud
of myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I
avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. However, I have learned about the Rhetorical Essay
was to understand how an author writes and not focus on what the content is. Knowing the
explanation of what techniques and author uses to make their point come across to the intended
audience. I learned about Argumentative Research Paper is to debate both sides of an issue. The
intent is to be unbiased and state the facts on either side. I learned about Public Piece with
Presentation is meant to deliver an effective presentation to engage your audience. Your audience
listens to not only what you are saying but your visual engagement in the topic being presented.
Also, the point of the class is to be able to work with others to achieve a desired outcome or task.
To know that I can work with others in a cohesive environment to draw on everyone's input and
views. This will assist me in the real work of life and assist in handling many types of people and
myself in communicating.
I have never been a good writer; however, I have learned that communication is not the same when

The Digital Age Essay
The Digital Age
The digital age is staring us in the face from the near future. We already see countless instances of
digital technology emerging more and more in our every day lives. Cell phones are equipped with
voice recognition software, and are able to take photographs and send them wirelessly across the
globe, almost instantaneously. When information is captured and transmitted into a digital format,
possibilities for that data become endless. Soon we will no longer be inconvenienced with reality;
all of our sensory shopping experiences will be converted to digital information and will be fed to
us through our computers. Digital information is in a much more malleable format. It can easily be
duplicated, changed, or processed...show more content...
The information created will be able to be shared by anyone with a computer. The power base that
the digital age relies on for existence, is technology. The rapid developing technology is absolutely
necessary for the digital age to exist. Without super powerful microchips, and high bandwidth
transfer wires, the digital age would be a figment of our imagination. Digital technology is computer
based, so the millions of calculations per second, and ability to transfer large amounts of data over
long distances are absolutely necessary. Without computers, the data might be collected; but there
would be nothing to process and transfer the information.
When new technology is invented, it is sometimes distributed to a society that might not be ready
for it. Few corporations consider this and are only interested in spreading their product to the
consumer as soon as possible. New technology is often flawed and taken advantage of by
individuals who know how to manipulate it. This is a considerably large problem when dealing with
digital technology. Digital information is not a three dimension tangible object. So it is easily
tampered with and destroyed without people noticing. When the damage is finally noticed, the party
responsible is usually untraceable and in a completely different area of the world to begin with.
The potential value of this new technology seems almost

You ever hear someone say they have swagger? A lot of times people's swagger is determined
from their style. For example, everyone has a specific style of fashion. If you put on some cargo
shorts with a tank top and slides you're probably not going to a job interview. Just like anything else,
writing has different expressions. Writing is a form of communication; the person is writing to
inform, persuade, describe, or tell a story. There are four main types of writing styles, expository,
persuasive, descriptive, and narrative. We then choose what we want to read according to our
interest in each category.
Let's look at expository writing. Expository writing is usually developed around one topic and is

Its name might as well give it away. Think of a closing argument in a court case being presented
to a jury. Each party's counsel is presenting a persuasive writing in the form of a speech. In this
type of writing the writer uses choice words in a cohesive manner in order to "sway" or persuade
the reader. You will most commonly come across this type of writing in advertisement. With that
being said, persuasive writing is all around us. This type of communication may consist of the
writer's opinions, but the best form also includes facts to back up his or her statements. With
attempts to get consumers to purchase specific products, we see persuasive writings all around us in
today's world.

An anonymous soldier gives detailed picture of a battlefield scene. Descriptive writing, often
used to portray a vivid, detailed experience, person, place, or thing, is third of the writing styles.
This style of writing requires strong observation skills to convey the writer's point of view. In
personal stories, you tend to see a lot of descriptive writing because it's the writer's story. He or she

Gonorrhea Essay
Gonorrhea
Gonorrhea is a curable, bacterial, sexually transmitted disease caused by a bacterium called Neisseria
gonorrhoeae (a member of the family Neisseriaceae). Bacteria are introduced during sexual contact.
These bacteria can infect the genital tract, the mouth, and the rectum. It attacks the urethra in males,
the cervix in females, and the throat. The majority of the organisms belonging to this family are
non–pathogenic or commensals, however, gonorrhea is always pathogenic. Gonorrhea's mode of

Doctors usually prescribe a combination of antibiotics, such as ceftriaxone and doxycycline or
azithromycin, which will treat both diseases. Serious complications can result, however, when left
untreated. In untreated gonorrhea infections, the bacteria can spread up into the reproductive tract,
or more rarely, can spread through the blood stream and infect the joints, heart valves, or the brain.
The most common result of untreated gonorrhea is PID, a serious infection of the female
reproductive organs. Gonococcal PID often appears immediately after the menstrual period. PID
causes scar tissue to form in the fallopian tubes. If the tube is only partially scarred, the fertilized egg
cannot pass into the uterus. If this happens, the embryo may implant in the tube causing a tubal
pregnancy. This serious complication results in a miscarriage and can cause death of the mother.
Rarely, untreated gonorrhea can spread through the blood to the joints.
Gonorrhea is treated with antibiotic drugs taken orally or by an injection. All partners must be
treated. Treatment during the early stages is usually 100 percent effective. It is important that all of
the antibiotics are taken as prescribed, and that the infected people refrain from sexual intercourse
during treatment. Proper hand washing is essential. The bacteria can be transferred to the eyes.

AIDS and other STD's impact the way they live externally; depression and suicide can govern their internal lives. However, religious tolerance grabs at both their internal and external lives. The biased media always attempts to push teens' beliefs one way or another, yet it is the choice of the individual to which counts in the end. ApologeticsIndex.org defines religious tolerance as "Acknowledging and supporting that individuals have the right and freedom to their own beliefs and related legitimate practices, without necessarily validating those beliefs or practices." It also defines religious intolerance as "a) Refusing to acknowledge and support the right...show more content... The first is where there is an extreme reluctance to change (e.g. Islam in the Middle East). The other comes in a form where change has happened all too rapidly. For example, secular countries like America and others in Europe have gone from origins in religion, to actually putting down religion (mainly through the media; Bernard Goldberg, Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News). Saying that religious intolerance is a problem is a massive understatement and the numbers certainly do not lie. In a study by the University of North Carolina, a poll was taken of seniors in high school about organized religion. An astonishing one third of seniors felt alienated by organized religion. Of these numbers, half the students felt hostile towards organized religion and another half felt no emotions towards it. One third is not a majority, but a whole third of the adult population is an alarming number. In this trend, it is to be expected that nearly 50% of youth will feel threatened by organized religion in little more than a decade (The Empty Church : Does Organized Religion Matter Anymore by Thomas C. Reeves). In a Youth Gallup Poll (ages 13 –17), 40% of youth who are identified as "non–churchgoers" agree that "most Muslims around the world are accepting of other religions." This number compares to only 27% of "churchgoers" who believe Muslims are religiously tolerant. This is a stark contrast. Are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Expository Essay: Chapter 1-6 The chapter starts off with a quote by one of the greatest poets, Robert Frost, and he says, "But God's own descent into flesh was meant as a demonstration" (Yancey 127). When I read the whole quote, I was really confused. I did not understand it. The first three lines, however, I could understand. God became human, which could be a demonstration. He took on the form of flesh because he wanted to show the world that the Savior was here to save us. The only way he can save us is if he became one of us. Therefore, God becoming a human could be a demonstration. I agree with Yancey when he wonders how different the world would be ifJesus did not resurrect from the dead (128). Would Christianity still exist today? Would the apostles still be afraid of spreading the Good News? There are so many questions about what would happen if Jesus did not resurrect himself from the dead, but those questions will never be answered because Jesus did resurrect from the dead and saved us. One thing I found interesting in this chapter was when an angel asked the apostles, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking into the sky?" (Yancey 129). I would be dumbfounded like the apostles if I witnessed Jesus ascending into the sky. It would have looked so cool, but I understand why the apostles were actually...show more content... This quote could not be truer. The apostles will become targets once Jesus ascends. They will be ridiculed, mocked, and persecuted because of the things they preached and believed. Despite all of this, the apostles persevered and spread the Good News until the very end. When I saw the quote, one thing came to my mind the most. All of the apostles except one died violent deaths because the apostles they would not stop preaching. That made me realize Jesus' words were so true, and Jesus knew what was going to happen to his Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay on Volcanoes Volcanoes Volcanoes are natural phenomena which are on the Earth's surface through which molten rock and gases escape from below the surface (Tarbuck, 139). These volcanoes are very interesting to observe and to study because of their amazing occurrences and majestic lava eruptions. Volcanoes have been studied ever since the beginning of mankind and the word "volcano" is thought to be derived from Vulcano, a volcanic island in the Aeolian Islands of Italy whose name in turn originates from Vulcan, the name of a god of fire in Roman mythology. Consisting of several types, volcanoes can extrude several forms of magma and can also release multiple gases. These extruded materials can affect the Earth's structure and atmosphere. There are...show more content... Last but not least, composite volcanoes also make up some of the earth's surface. Composite volcanoes have a conical shape, with a steep summit area and gradually sloping flanks, and are nearly symmetrical in structure (Tarbuck, 141). These volcanoes release silica–rich and gaseous magma that is highly viscous and travels very short distances. These three types of volcanoes that occupy the earth have seemingly different physical characteristics and behavioral changes. A volcanic eruption is one of the most dangerous and eventful natural disasters that can take place. During these eruptions, several factors are taken into account. Each type of volcano discussed above has a different form of lava: one's might be highly fluid and the other might be very viscous. Lava can take many shapes as it is extruded from a volcano. One such form is that of pahoehoe. Usually common on the Hawaiian volcanoes, pahoehoe is a form of lava which is smooth and ropy and causes by the congealment of lava as it is released from the volcano (Williams, 32). Another form of lava is one that is named aa. This lava consists of jumbles of rough, clinkery, and spinose fragments, ranging from small chips to blocks measuring meters on a side (Williams, 37). Aa flows are cool and thick and can advance at rates between 5 and 50 meters per hour (Tarbuck, 145). Lava can also take a block formation Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. The Importance Of Expository Reading Expository text is a very important form of reading material that is used to present content in different ways. Starting as early as kindergarten, children should be able to identify the main topic, ask and answer questions, and describe connections between two different pieces of information (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Teachers have problems with studentsreading expository text. It is sometimes more difficult to read than just regular story reading. Hebert, Bohaty, Nelson, and Brown conducted a meta–analysis on text structure instruction, concluding that it was an effective way to improve expository reading comprehension (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Different strategies were developed to help with understanding expository reading comprehension. Teachers play a big role in helping the students understand. They have to begin with clear learning objectives that outlines the skills teachers want their students to demonstrate by the end of the instruction (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Once the teacher decides on the learning objective, they can plan specific instructional strategies to help students achieve the objectives. If there is a clear goal from the teacher, things will be easier on the students. Identification strategies is a good start in recognizing the structure of an expository text. There are two possible goals of identification strategies: to recognize a single text structure or to discriminate among several possible text Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. How to Analyze an Expository Essay Expository writing, in general, is present everywhere. When you pick up a magazine or examine a newspaper article on the newsstand, you are reading a form of exposition because the author's main purpose of writing that article or essay is to inform the reader about a topic. In the classroom, many students are required to produce research papers about a specific topic, such as migration patterns of birds. The purpose of that research paper is to inform the reader, the teacher, about what are the migratory patterns of birds. Finally, at the workplace, many people are required to create business reports and memorandums to inform their supervisors and co–workers about the company's finances and progress. Within the model essay itself, it satisfies all of these requirements. The text describes, "when you find water becoming extremely hot (or cold)," the homeowner suggests that the guest, "exit the tub promptly while using a sweeping motion with one arm to push shower curtain aside"(Frazier 303). This piece of direction is clear because it plainly informs the guest on the actual action they have to perform in order to prevent hot or cold water from burning or freezing the guest. It is also concise because it does not include any irrelevant information pertaining to avoiding burning or freezing the guest. This essay is organized because when the author listed out his or her directions, he or she listed them out in chronological order. Lastly, "How to Operate the Shower Curtain" acknowledges common mistakes, such as "REMEMBER TO KEEP SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE TUB AT ALL TIMES!" (Frasier 303). The author is cautioning the guest to keep the shower curtain within the bath tub no matter what. The reason for determining the kind of expository essay it is to help in determining the purpose of the exposition as a whole. • 8. Life Of Pi Expository Essay To discover is to progress, experience and to transform. As one encounters discovery, an individual may encounter a transformative experience that most certainly can lead to new perceptions of others and ourselves. These ideas portrayed about how discoveries are transformative, is effectively exemplified in the poem " The Road not taken" by Robert Frost. Which conveys how discoveries can push one into a wider world full of possibilities, which may transform one immensely introducing new perceptions of them selves and others. This concept is also shown in Ang lee's film 'Life of Pi'. The toxicness of the island, forces Pi to continue his discovery for salvation in order to live with humanity, due to the fatal repercussions of a life lived without humanity. Which conveys how through discoveries ramifications most certainly arise which as a result alters ones perceptions of themselves and their surroundings in order to survive which aims to transform one for the better. Likewise this concept is significantly portrayed in the road not taken, demonstrated in 'the lines " I shall be telling this with a sigh" the first person narration indicates a change in tone, displaying a sense of regret in which discoveries can introduce as a result of ones choices in embarking a discovery in which shifts ones perceptions on themselves and the wider world hence transforming them. • 10. Essay about Prejudice Missing Formatting In today's world, there are many social issues, like poverty, vandalism and unemployment. However, prejudice has become the most dramatic one. Prejudging people for their appearance is a common practice that humans perform. People are not only ridiculed for their color, but also by their religion, sex or age. Therefore, I consider that racism, ageism and sexism are the three major problems in our society and we need to cease them immediately. Much of our world's history were based upon racism. In the 1600's, white men used Africans as slaves and treated them as they were not human. "Colored" people were not even allowed to use the same drinking fountains as white people. Fortunately, in the last three decades, race...show more content... The most popular watched sport in America, NBA basketball, is played by over 87% of the African decent. Nevertheless, racism is still a issue that will never completely go away. Ageism is also a worrying problem in our society. Though many people think that this is not a serious problem, people are being harassed about their age everyday, whether they are "too young" or "too old". I have dealt with this problem myself, as many other teenagers have. When I walk into some stores, I am asked to leave my purse at the counter and I am often followed around by employees. They watch every move I make to make sure that I will not steal anything. I know that theft is a dilemma that many businesses have to deal with , but when it gets to the point of being untrusted due to your age, it is completely ridiculous and inappropriate. Men and women have never been equal in the world and that is what we call sexism. For example, if a man and a woman who have the same knowledge ask for the same job, the boss will probably pick the man. Even though they both get the job, the man will maybe have a better salary than the woman. People always believe that men work better than women but no one can give a satisfying explication to support that thought. Fortunately, sexism is decreasing constantly but it will never diminish to the point of complete equality. We can never judge someone by their Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Should we really be accepting of other people? To answer the question, yes! Although this does speak from opinion, it's essential to be accepting of others. It's understandable to find laboriousness when looking through others, but we need to remember the reasons why it's imperative. To start off, we're all the same! We're all people, but sometimes, we seem to overlook that part of us. We all process the same way, and I feel as if that's a good enough reason to find acceptance. Something else to remember is that we all have emotions. When we don't accept eachother for who we are, our emotions can get Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Individuals can have specific preferences and needs due to different backgrounds, culture and/or religion. It is important to respect how they would like to carry out their personal hygiene in a non–judgemental way so they can be fully supported and happy with their routines. • 13. Expository Writing Rough Draft On School Kirk Zimmer Expository Writing Rough Draft Everything Wrong With School In 10 Minutes or Less! When I was twelve, I had no appreciation for school. I saw it as nothing more as a glorified daycare center with all the rules and regulations specifically designed to restrict as much fun as possible. Then one day in the ninth grade, I had a revelation: what if school was actually meant to build me up with knowledge and facts and not just waste my time? This was the foundation I needed to get me through the next four years. Whenever I was bored, I would remind myself that I 'd never have a "free" education like this again. I adapted particularly well to this system of tests, quizzes, and science labs but I could never understand the hang up some people had with it. School was basic and easy and all it seemed to require was consistency an+d proper scheduling. I looked at people who couldn 't understand US History or Geometry and I thought they were dumb. It wasn 't until much later with much more reflection that I came to conclude there 's a difference between how you score on the SATs and how smart you actually are. Education isn 't necessarily a direct line to becoming intelligent and knowledgeable; education is nothing more than an institution designed to equip people with subsets of specialized processing methodologies, algorithms, and a fair bit of esoteric trivia. Furthermore, the current educational system in place is inefficient because of its rigid nature. The current Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay on Determination Some people believe that talent and a winning attitude are all you need in order to succeed in your endeavors, but a winning attitude means having determination, which many people lack. As seen on wisdomforthesoul.org, "Real leaders are ordinary people with extraordinary determination." Determination is an important factor in the overall success or failure of a person's efforts. Unfortunately, determination is not something that comes easy to the majority of people. To be truly determined, a person must first be passionate about what they're doing. Passion, however, is only the first step towards resolution and determination. One must have a clear goal in mind, and be willing to do anything to achieve said goal. When the end is decided upon, there is no reason or desire to change said goal. A person under the influence of determination is comparable to a train. The train will not change its direction, as it cannot, and no matter what, the train will continue along the tracks until it either reaches its destination, or is stopped by the conductor. For as an example, my plan after high school is to go to college, and then move into the professional world. When confronted about possibly wanting to join the military, my answer is absolutely not. Going to college right after high school has always been my mindset, and there's no way my determination will let that change. I am the metaphorical train, because my destination is set, and there's no chance for me to adjust my direction. I will not stray from my goal, because it would mean wrecking myself and all those involved in my endeavors. There will be mountains in front of me, and people I may have to run over to reach my goal, but when one's mind is set, they will not waver, and neither will I. • 16. Reflection Of Expository Writing Erwyn Suruy December 9, 2017 Eng 111 Reflective Essay I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly what I'm trying to put forth to others and convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work in teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the language of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at work or school, or in society. Since everyone does not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important in any environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find answers to things I do not know. Most important I have learned how to believe in my writing. I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years. When I took the placement test for reading and English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud of myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. However, I have learned about the Rhetorical Essay was to understand how an author writes and not focus on what the content is. Knowing the explanation of what techniques and author uses to make their point come across to the intended audience. I learned about Argumentative Research Paper is to debate both sides of an issue. The intent is to be unbiased and state the facts on either side. I learned about Public Piece with Presentation is meant to deliver an effective presentation to engage your audience. Your audience listens to not only what you are saying but your visual engagement in the topic being presented. Also, the point of the class is to be able to work with others to achieve a desired outcome or task. To know that I can work with others in a cohesive environment to draw on everyone's input and views. This will assist me in the real work of life and assist in handling many types of people and myself in communicating. We already see countless instances of digital technology emerging more and more in our every day lives. Cell phones are equipped with voice recognition software, and are able to take photographs and send them wirelessly across the globe, almost instantaneously. When information is captured and transmitted into a digital format, possibilities for that data become endless. Soon we will no longer be inconvenienced with reality; all of our sensory shopping experiences will be converted to digital information and will be fed to us through our computers. Digital information is in a much more malleable format. It can easily be duplicated, changed, or processed...show more content... The information created will be able to be shared by anyone with a computer. The power base that the digital age relies on for existence, is technology. The rapid developing technology is absolutely necessary for the digital age to exist. Without super powerful microchips, and high bandwidth transfer wires, the digital age would be a figment of our imagination. Digital technology is computer based, so the millions of calculations per second, and ability to transfer large amounts of data over long distances are absolutely necessary. Without computers, the data might be collected; but there would be nothing to process and transfer the information. When new technology is invented, it is sometimes distributed to a society that might not be ready for it. Few corporations consider this and are only interested in spreading their product to the consumer as soon as possible. New technology is often flawed and taken advantage of by individuals who know how to manipulate it. This is a considerably large problem when dealing with digital technology. Digital information is not a three dimension tangible object. So it is easily tampered with and destroyed without people noticing. When the damage is finally noticed, the party responsible is usually untraceable and in a completely different area of the world to begin with. The potential value of this new technology seems almost Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. You ever hear someone say they have swagger? A lot of times people's swagger is determined from their style. For example, everyone has a specific style of fashion. If you put on some cargo shorts with a tank top and slides you're probably not going to a job interview. Just like anything else, writing has different expressions. Writing is a form of communication; the person is writing to inform, persuade, describe, or tell a story. There are four main types of writing styles, expository, persuasive, descriptive, and narrative. We then choose what we want to read according to our interest in each category. Let's look at expository writing. Expository writing is usually developed around one topic and is used to describe or inform you...show more content... Its name might as well give it away. Think of a closing argument in a court case being presented to a jury. Each party's counsel is presenting a persuasive writing in the form of a speech. In this type of writing the writer uses choice words in a cohesive manner in order to "sway" or persuade the reader. You will most commonly come across this type of writing in advertisement. With that being said, persuasive writing is all around us. This type of communication may consist of the writer's opinions, but the best form also includes facts to back up his or her statements. With attempts to get consumers to purchase specific products, we see persuasive writings all around us in today's world. "The battlefield had a cold malevolent air to it, the wind howling past you in every which way, as if trying to express its own confusion at the sudden seize–fire. I, myself, was confused. One minute the bullets were raining holy hell down on us in a never–ending bombardment, and the next, nothing." An anonymous soldier gives detailed picture of a battlefield scene. Descriptive writing, often used to portray a vivid, detailed experience, person, place, or thing, is third of the writing styles. This style of writing requires strong observation skills to convey the writer's point of view. In personal stories, you tend to see a lot of descriptive writing because it's the writer's story. • 19. Gonorrhea Essay Gonorrhea Gonorrhea is a curable, bacterial, sexually transmitted disease caused by a bacterium called Neisseria gonorrhoeae (a member of the family Neisseriaceae). Bacteria are introduced during sexual contact. These bacteria can infect the genital tract, the mouth, and the rectum. It attacks the urethra in males, the cervix in females, and the throat. The majority of the organisms belonging to this family are non–pathogenic or commensals, however, gonorrhea is always pathogenic. Gonorrhea's mode of transmission is during sexual intercourse – vaginal, oral, and anal. People who practice anal intercourse can get gonorrhea of the rectum. Even women who do not engage in anal...show more content... Doctors usually prescribe a combination of antibiotics, such as ceftriaxone and doxycycline or azithromycin, which will treat both diseases. Serious complications can result, however, when left untreated. In untreated gonorrhea infections, the bacteria can spread up into the reproductive tract, or more rarely, can spread through the blood stream and infect the joints, heart valves, or the brain. The most common result of untreated gonorrhea is PID, a serious infection of the female reproductive organs. Gonococcal PID often appears immediately after the menstrual period. PID causes scar tissue to form in the fallopian tubes. If the tube is only partially scarred, the fertilized egg cannot pass into the uterus. If this happens, the embryo may implant in the tube causing a tubal pregnancy. This serious complication results in a miscarriage and can cause death of the mother. Rarely, untreated gonorrhea can spread through the blood to the joints. Gonorrhea is treated with antibiotic drugs taken orally or by an injection. All partners must be treated. Treatment during the early stages is usually 100 percent effective. It is important that all of the antibiotics are taken as prescribed, and that the infected people refrain from sexual intercourse during treatment. Proper hand washing is essential. The bacteria can be transferred to the eyes. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
