1. The Gaming Industry
Likely future developments of the gaming industry:
I believe that in the future, sales of physical products will decrease, physical retailers will
lose revenue and some of these retailers may have to close down. All sales will be digital
and this will allow the audience to ‘test’ the products more easily in order for producers
to obtain good feedback on their products. Improvements will be made and it was be
simpler for institutions to distribute games in ways that actually appeal to their target
audience.
In the future I believe that the gaming industry will become more digital, there will be
glasses invented so that all gaming content is 3D and the facial expressions of the
characters are in better quality. The glasses will additionally have special effects that allow
them to shoot water, create sounds effects and a wind sensation if necessary.
I also believe that more games will be changed from being on the PC to being purely
available online and on consoles such as: the PlayStation and Xbox and that a lot of these
games will be produced by prosumers , resulting in there being a lot more access to
amateur productions however more access to original ideas that are able to be developed
and expanded.
Lastly, I believe that the gaming industry will continue to become global by audience
members being able to communicate and play with others throughout the world. Global
relationships will be strengthened and there will be more access and choice to play with
others from other countries when choosing to buy the product.
Proposed idea for the gaming industry:
There will be items created e.g. Wrist bands and ankle bands that allow the audience to
become more interactive and active with their games if they choose to do so. For example
when playing Call of Duty the gamer would be able to use body actions to complete the
missions. These actions would be recorded by the bands resulting in the character on the
screen completing the same movements.
This advance in the gaming industry will be accessible across all platforms as long as the
software can be downloaded, these platforms include:
o iPads,
o Games consoles e.g. Xbox and PlayStation
o Computers
o Phones
