Juror 3

 1. 1. Juror #3 By Alexa Singer and Sammi Spoll
 2. 2. Biography

Middle-aged

Runs a messenger service called “The Beck and Call Company”

He has not seen his son in two years after a falling-out when his son punched him in the face

 3. 3. Personality

Intolerant of others’ opinions

Slightly sadistic & pessimistic

Short-tempered

Stubborn

Hateful and hostile

to young people

 4. 4. Quotes

“ Everything... every single thing that took place in that courtroom, but I mean everything... says he's guilty. What d'ya think? I'm an idiot or somethin‘? You lousy bunch of bleeding hearts, you’re not going to intimidate me. I’m entitled to my opinion. I can sit in this goddamn room for a year. Somebody say something… And what about hearin' the kid yell... huh? I'm tellin' ya, I've got all the facts here...” (72)

 5. 5. Quotes

“Excitable! You bet I'm excitable. We are trying to put a guilty man in the chair where he belongs, and then someone starts telling us fairytales and we're listening!” (27)

“Let go of me, God damn it! I’ll kill him! I’ll kill him!” (48)

 6. 6. Summary

When me and the other jurors entered the jury room it was so God damn hot in there. First thing we did was take a vote and eleven of ‘em voted guilty because they had some sense in ‘em, but one son of a bitch voted not guilty. We spent all day arguin’ about useless things until the whole God damn bunch of ‘em were against me. I just wanted to get the hell outta that room so I finally gave in and we voted not guilty.

 7. 7. Analysis

Because Juror 3 has such strong opinions , he is actively involved in the play and never afraid to say what he believes. His role in the play is to be the stubborn juror, who does not want to give in and admit the defendant is not guilty. Many of the characters felt as if Juror 3 was harsh and cruel because he acted as if anyone with a different opinion was not intelligent. The readers are frustrated with Juror 3 because in the conclusion of the play, he is the only one still voting guilty .
