IMPACT AND SUSTAINABILITY
• Investing in librarians knowledge and librarians reform has a sustainable impact and influence on
the development and modernization of higher education institutions of Armenia, Moldova and
Belarus
• The library staff skills development directly and significantly benefit all library users: students,
teachers, researchers and non-specific users.
• The opportunity to have an open access , fast and qualitative information directly contribute to
the development of critical thinking and lifelong learning.
• Creating a support network of partner institutions and their integration into other international
networks will enhance information flow and collaboration opportunities
• Elaboration a policy for library collection development plays an essential role in ensuring quality
services, including the various partnerships and consortia

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
The Library collection - all documents provided by a library for its
users.
The Electronic collection - all resources in electronic form in the
library collection, be created in digital form or digitized;
The Digital collection - part of the collection consists of those
electronic items that have been digitized from analogue of the library
collection;
Serials Publications Collection – document in printed form or Not,
published in successive instalments, usually having numerical or
chronological order, for an indefinite period, regardless of its
periodicity.

Disc compact non-inscriptibil, CD- suport informatic pentru stocarea şi extragerea
informaţiei utilizând tehnologiile laser şi care conţine date textuale şi/sau
multimedia. Non-recordable compact disc, CD readable format for storing and retrieving information using laser technologies and
containing textual data and / or multimedia.
DVD (disc digital polivalent) - categorie de suport pentru stocare optică, cu
dimensiuni similare unui disc compact, dar cu o capacitate de stocare mult mai
mare. DVD (digital disc) - Optical storage support category with similar size of a CD, but with much greater storage capacity.
Document multimedia -document în format digital care combină diferite moduri
de prezentare a informaţiei (text, fotografii, imagini grafice, video, audio) pentru
utilizare interactivă./Digital multimedia document combining different ways of presenting the information (text, photographs,
graphics, video, audio) for use interactive.
CARTE ELECTRONICĂ (EBOOK) - document electronic ce nu poartă un număr de
serie standard, licenţiat sau nu, în care textul ocupă un loc preponderent şi care
poate fi considerat ca echivalent al cărţii tipărite (monografie) EBOOK (EBOOK) - electronic document
that does not bear a standardized serial number, licensed or not, the text play a leading role and which can be regarded as equivalent to the printed book
(monograph)

Establishment and Collections Development is one of the most important activities in the library
Info-structures documentation collections are an ensemble, a coherent, vivid, original specific to each
institution.
A topically coherent collection is a good starting point for a focused search.

First pilot training feedback from students
on the Pilot Training Module No. 8 about the Library Collection Development Policies in the framework of the
program ,,Library Network Support Services (LNSS): Modernizing libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus
through library staff development and reforming library services”
Twenty-one employees of the university library attended the training conducted by Elena HARCONIŢA, the
Director of the Scientific Library
The Training program included the following presentations from the three trainers:
Elena HARCONIŢA, Director SL USARB presented about the project objectives, work packages, modules; and
the LNSS Module No. 8 : Library Collection Development Policies; Collection Development Principles;
- Lina MIHALUŢA, Deputy Director SL USARB presented about the Collection Development terms and
definitions. Following the presentation, the librarians participated in practical exercises using the terms and
definitions learned
Valentina TOPALO, the Head of Department of the SL USARB presented the Questionnaire study of collection
integrity and access to information resources using SURVEY MONKEY
During the presentations, the participants discussed about strengthening the information about the terms
and definitions, standards and principles, and the policies in Collection Development, as well as how to use
Survey Monkey to generate electronic questionnaires

At the conclusion of the training, the participants evaluated the Library Collections
Development Policy Module, and gave the maximum score for well-prepared
presentations, clear topic explanations, excellent communication, and effective
knowledge transfer from the trainers to the participants.
Participants responded with the following feedback about the training:
•The content of the training was well prepared,exciting and attractive, and thetrainers
showed extensive knowledge about the material presented;
•It was a very useful and comprehensive training, and the theme was absolutely
necessary for developing and maintaining libraries;
•The presenters explained the topic in a way that was easy to comprehend;
•The trainers’ presentations were excellent, stimulated interest in the subject, and
created a pleasant atmosphere supported by modern technology;
•The tasks and group discussions were very helpful;
•The interactive methods used in the training will contribute to gaining as much
information and practical skills as possible. The online qestionnaire generated by Survey
Monkey is a suitable method to research our users. Thank you very much!

OBJECTIVE
• The objective of the National Awareness Day is to promote library
services for Lifelong Learning in education and society involving
the participation primary, secondary and higher educational
institutions on an agreed day.
• This includes active student participation of Universities, National
and Public Libraries, high schools, colleges , vocational schools ,
Associate Partners, Student Unions, Teacher Unions with the
support of Education Ministries , Ministry of Education, Ministry of
Culture and NGO’s.
