2. First Draft Front
Cover
This is the first draft of my
magazine front cover using the
image of "Spike" with a
transparent background, the
background circles that I created
on paint using the airbrush
tool, the title that I found the
font for and edited the outline
and the shadows, and the
banner with writing on at the
top of the page. Date:
November the 28th 2013.
3. Second Draft
Front Cover
In this draft, I moved the
background circles from
the center of the page to
the bottom left corner of
the page. This has the
effect of seeming as
though they are coming
out of the circle around
the Anarchy symbol. I will
upload a post about the
circles soon. Date:
November the 28th 2013.
4. Third Draft Front
Cover
In this draft I have added in
two polaroid frames and a
barcode. I used the
polaroid frames to add to
the bricolage style that I
am aiming for. In this draft I
have only included the
image of “Buffy”, however I
will soon add in the image
of Terminal Moraine. All
magazines nowadays
require a barcode, this
contrasts against punk
ideologies, as they were
very anti establishment
orientated. To overcome
this I added in a tartan
print. Date: November the
29th 2013
5. Fourth Draft
Front Cover
In this draft I have added a
banner to the bottom to link
intertextually with the image of
“Spike”. I have stuck to the
colour scheme of black and
blue to do this as they stand
out well against each other.
Date: December the 1st 2013.
6. Fifth Draft Front
Cover
In this draft, I experimented using
another polaroid frame and
moving the barcode. Date:
December the 1st 2013.
7. Sixth Draft Front
Cover
In this draft I have added
the image of Terminal
Moraine, added some
banners in and also added
a date, a website, a price
and an issue number. I
placed a torn out note
page which I found on the
internet, this gives the
page more of a DIY
effect, along with the
boxes and polaroids that
are all purposefully tilted
on an angle. This links to
the Bricolage style
adopted by punks. Date:
December the 3rd 2013.
8. Final Draft
Front Cover
I made a last minute change
of changing the tartan print
surrounding the barcode to
a leopard print. This links to
one of Banksy’s Barcode and
Leopard graffiti, where the
barcode is the cage that the
leopard has escaped from.
The barcode is representing
consumerism, and the
leopard is trapped by this.
Punks also wore leopard
print as I will explore in
another blog post. Date:
December the 8th 2013.
9. First Draft
Contents
Page
This is the first draft of my
contents page. I have the
main image of “Buffy” on the
left, advertising the
competition. I have started
adding in the titles for the
contents page. Date:
December the 5th 2013.
10. Second Draft
Contents Page
In this draft, I have included
most of the contents, using the
colour red for the number and
black for the writing. Date:
December the 7th 2013
11. Third Draft
Contents Page
In this draft I have included a
an image of “Spike” below the
contents, as well as a message
from the editor and another
competition. I have spread
these other two images across
the page so that there is a
balance between the writing
and the pictures. The bottom
left picture is one that I took
when I went to a gig in a pub.
Date: December the 9th 2013.
12. Final Draft
Contents Page
In this draft I have made
my final edit of adding the
editor picture (of myself)
doing the devil horns sign
with my hands and
snarling. Date: December
the 10th.
13. First Draft Double Page Spread
This is my first
draft of my
double page
spread. I have
explored using a
galaxy print
background as it
links to modern
day styles
amongst
youths, therefore
widening the
target audience.
Date: December
the 12th 2013.
14. Second Draft Double Page Spread
In this draft, I
have used an
acid wash
background.
Date: December
the 12th 2013.
15. Third Draft Double Page Spread
In this draft, I have
found the
background that I
will use. The colour
red has been
associated with
danger, anger and
love. All strong
powerful
feelings, because it
has the effect of
increasing your
heart rate. I thought
that this was
appropriate for my
double page. Date:
December the 13th
16. Final Draft Double Page Spread
In this draft, I have
inserted the
article, an interview
between Zack and
Dan, as well as
included the page
number, a title and a
short summary of the
article. I moved “Zack
to the right hand
page and put the
writing on the left
hand side.
