Why should you care? By the end of 2011, one in two Americans will own a smartphone. 43% of local retailers plan on jumping onboard with location services in the next two years.
Why should you care? These networks offer a lot of promotional opportunities. These networks are more influential than traditional advertising as they are available when clients are on-site.

Claiming Your Foursquare Venue There’s more to it than tracking
Signup for Foursquare Go to foursquare.comand sign-up.
Search for Your Venue Search for your venue in the search bar.
Search for Your Venue Refine the search if necessary by city.
Add Your Venue (if applicable) If you can’t find your page, add it.
Claim Your Venue Click on the ‘Claim here’ link.
Confirm You Want to Claim Select ‘Continue claiming this venue’.
Confirm You Are Authorized Select ‘Yes’ to confirm you are authorized.
Link to Your Account Claiming the venue will link the site to your Foursquare account you are currently logged in with.  If you’d like to change that, you can do so on this screen.
Are you a single or chain? Select the size of your organization.

Verification Process This will take you through the verification process that Foursquare uses to ensure that you are, in fact, part of this company. They will verify using a phone number providedso make sure to tell anyone that answers about this verification. Alternatively they will mail you a notice in the mail to the address on your venue.
Phone Verification Enter your phone number for your business.
Mail Verification Select to have a code mailed to you.
