LSC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD SET
The men’s and women’s brackets for the Lone Star Conference Basketball Championship March 2-5 in Allen,
Texas, was finalized Saturday evening as the league’s basketball teams wrapped up the regular season.
The top eight teams have advanced to the LSC Championship Tournament and the postseason begins with
games on Wednesday, March 2.
MidwesternStatewontheLSCmen’stitlewitha10-4record. TheMustangsclaimedtheirninthchampionship
and seventh since 2007.
On the women’s side, West Texas A&M claimed the LSC title with a 13-3 league record. The Lady Buffs picked
up their third straight championship and 14th overall.
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com, as well as the Allen Event Center
box office. Single-session tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
All seven games will be streamed live free of charge through the LSC’s GameCentral portal (http://portal.
stretchinternet.com/lonestar). In addition to supporting desktop and laptop computers, GameCentral’s
responsive design will support mobile devices as well (iPad, iPhones, Android).
LSC BASKETBALL
The LSC men have a 132-81 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 13-9 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 12-8 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
The LSC women are 130-108 overall. The women’s squads are currently 20-14 combined against the
Heartland, and 8-6 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
Omari Gudul, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Kinshasa, Congo, Cretin-Laiser Hill Academy
Gudul led the Rams offense in its only game this week by scoring a career high 27 points against Texas A&M -
Kingsville. He was 10-of-13 from the field and 7-of-9 from the stripe. This accompanied by his 11 boards gave
the senior his sixth double-double of the year. The forward’s stellar performance was the most points scored
since Angelo State Ram, Tommy Woolridge, scored 32 against Cameron on January 25, 2014. Gudul also led the
squad as he marked three blocks on the night.
MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Hershell Grant, Midwestern State University, SR, Guard, Washington, D.C., Roosevelt HS (Clarendon College)
Grant played a key defensive role in helping Midwestern State limit Cameron to 30 percent shooting in a 79-59
win over Aggies to clinch an outright Lone Star Conference championship Saturday night at Aggie Gym. The
senior from Washington, D.C. also contributed on the offensive end of the floor scoring 16 points on 6-of-7
shooting including a pair of 3-pointers while pulling down nine rebounds to go along with a blocked shot and
a steal.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Jasmine Prophet, Angelo State University, JR, Forward, Jackon, Miss., Hightower HS
Prophet led ASU to a 71-56 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville and secured the No. 2 seed in the LSC
Championship Tournament. The junior recorded her fourth double-double of the year with a game high 23
points and 11 rebounds. It is the fifth straight game in double figures and the fourth game over 20 points. She
shot 53.8-percent from the field and 90-percent from the charity stripe. She grabbed nine defensive rebounds
and three offensive rebounds in the win.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
DJ Vallier, Cameron University, SR, Forward, Houston, Texas, Klien Oak HS
Vallier averaged ten rebounds per game in Cameron’s two contests beating Texas Woman’s and Midwestern
State to end the regular season. The Cameron senior pulled down 12 boards at TWU and added eight in Lawton
against the Mustangs. Of her 20 rebounds, 15 of them came from the defensive side of the court. In the back
half of the season, Vallier has became one of the best rebounders in the LSC pulling down 6.9 per game in
league play which is tied for fourth best.
MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, the LSC’s leading scorer, had another big game for the Buffs in
the 2015-16 regular season finale as the sophomore went 9-of-16 from the floor and 3-of-6 from deep to lead
all players with 22 points on Saturday night in a 82-63 road win over Eastern New Mexico. Chavlovich has now
registered an impressive 1,078 career points in his two season in a WT uniform as the sophomore leads the
Lone Star Conference in scoring this season with 20.5 points per game. To reach the career top-10 for the Buffs,
the Arlington native needs 1,138 points for a tie for 10th with WTAMU Hall of Champions member Troy Burrus
(1952-54).
Sheldon Hagigal, Midwestern State University, poured in a season-high 19 points to lead Midwestern State
to a 79-59 win over Cameron Saturday night at Aggie Gym to clinch the outright Lone Star Conference title.

The junior from Old Westbury, N.Y. drilled a campaign-high five 3-pointers including three during a 4-minute,
18-second stretch to spur a 13-7 run allowing the Mustangs push their lead back out to 11. Hagigal fired in 12
3-pointers over MSU’s four final regular season games while shooting 60 percent from the arc. He has scored
at least 10 points off of the bench 11 times this season.
Lawrence Domingo, Eastern New Mexico University, had one of his season’s best performances Saturday
night, recording his team-leading sixth double-double of the season on his last night in Greyhound Arena.
Domingo led the way for his team on senior night, grabbing a game-high 15 boards as well as a team-high 19
points.
WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Whitney Taylor, Midwestern State University, notched her fifth 20-point game of the season and third
in the last four games Saturday with a 23-point performance in a road loss at Cameron Saturday. All five of
Taylor’s 20-point outings have come in the last 10 games and been away from the friendly confines of D.L.
Ligon Coliseum. The Melissa native finished 7-of-16 from the field and 4-of-6 from long range to record her
fourth-straight game with at least three triples. Over the last four games, Taylor is averaging 21.0 points while
shooting 49.1 percent (27-55) from the floor, 51.7 percent (15-29) from three-point range and 88.2 percent
(15-17) at the charity stripe. Taylor is the conference leader with a 75.0 free-throw percentage and ranks fifth
in the league with 12.7 points per game while coming in fourth with 14.8 points during LSC play.
Ikpeaku Iwobi, Tarleton State University, scored a career-high 22 points on 9-12 shooting for Tarleton against
Texas A&M-Commerce. The junior was 9-12 shooting from the floor and 4-4 at the charity stripe for the game
and came to life to lead a fourth-quarter charge. Iwobi was 6-7 from the floor and scored 14 of her 22 points in
the fourth quarter. She also grabbed 10 rebounds for her first double-double since Jan. 2.
Sarah Stinnett, Eastern New Mexico University, poured in 22 points in Eastern’s regular-season finale against
12th-ranked West Texas A&M. In addition to her scoring, she grabbed eight rebounds and helped control the
game’s tempo, which allowed ENMU to hold a lead late in the third quarter. The contest marked Stinnett’s third
20-point performance in the last five games.
Maddison Wild, West Texas A&M University, returned to the starting lineup and paced the Lady Buffs with
17 points and 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season helping lead the Lady Buffs to a 64-58 win
at Eastern New Mexico and the third-straight Lone Star Conference regular season title. Wild was 6 of 12 from
the field and five of seven from the line in the game, while pulling down a career-high six offensive rebounds
with five on the defensive end. It was Wild’s eighth double figure scoring game of the season and 18th of her
career.
Shomari Harris , Texas A&M University-Commerce, played well as she led the Lions in scoring, rebounding,
and assists, with 13, eight, and five, respectively, in the final game of the regular season. Harris averages 16
points per game, and has a total of 11 rebounds and eight assists against Tarleton State this season.
Brea Mitchell, Angelo State University, was key defensively for ASU as the Belles held TAMUK to 33.3-percent
shooting and just 56 points. Mitchell grabbed all 10 rebounds on the defensive end and scored 15 points in the
win. It was Mitchell’s third double-double of the season. ASU also forced 11 turnovers.
Khala Riley , Texas A&M University-Commerce, was a big contributor to the Lions defensive success of
containing Tarleton State. Riley aggressive play sufficed for a team high of three steals. The junior came alive in
the second half as she torched the TexAnns for nine points, two defensive rebounds, two steals, and two assists.
Michaela Neuhaus, West Texas A&M University, tallied five steals and one block in the Lady Buffs’ 64-58
win at Eastern New Mexico on Saturday to clinch the third-straight Lone Star Conference regular season title.
Neuhaus tied her career-high with the five thefts and now is third in the LSC in steals with 52 at a 1.9 clip.
Neuhaus went 5 of 8 from the field (.625) and 3 of 6 from beyond the arc (.500), while draining all three free
throws. She added four assists with just one turnover and tallied one block.

rebounds on his final night playing in front of the fans at Greyhound Arena, being honored along with fellow

Midwestern State
Midwestern State clinched the outright Lone Star Conference championship and the No. 1 seed in the LSC
Postseason Tournament with a 79-59 win over Cameron Saturday afternoon at Aggie Gym... The Mustangs
claimed their ninth Lone Star Conference title since joining the league in 1996-97 which is five more than any
other program has won over the time as Tarleton State and Central Oklahoma won four apiece... MSU became
the first Lone Star Conference member to win seven league titles in 10 years since Stephen F. Austin pulled
off the feat between 1932-41. Howard Payne won six in 10 seasons between 1962-71 and East Texas State
on seven in 11 seasons between 1948-58... Junior guard Sheldon Hagigal poured in a season-high 19 points

The Lions enter the LSC Tournament as the No. 6 seed
and will turn around and play No. 3 seed Tarleton
State in their first round match up. The Texans and
Lions split the two meetings in the 2015-16 season.
A&M-Commerce looks to defend their 2015 Lone Star
Conference Tournament Championship. The Lions
are 5-3 overall in the Allen Event Center.

West Texas A&M
The West Texas A&M Buffaloes ended the regular
season a high note on Saturday night as a big second
half lifted WT to a 82-63 Lone Star Conference win
over the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico in
front of over 1,200 people at Greyhound Arena in
Portales, New Mexico. WT went 31-of-62 (50%) from
the field including 5-of-18 (27.8%) from deep and
15-of-25 (60%) from the free throw line to go along
with 43 rebounds (nine offensive, 34 defensive),
19 fouls, nine assists, 12 turnovers, three blocks
and 10 steals. Chavlovich went 9-of-16 from the
floor including 3-of-6 from deep to score 22 points
followed by Golightly Jr. and Walton with 16 each.
The Buffs claimed the fourth seed in the Lone Star
Conference Championship set for this week at the
Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. WT fill face off
with fifth seeded Cameron on Thursday night at 8:30
p.m. WT finished the regular season in a three-way
tie for second place in the LSC with Angelo State and
Tarleton State.

A trey from Jasmine Hotchkins staked the Greyhound
women’s basketball team to a 41-39 lead over
12th-ranked West Texas A&M, on senior night at
Greyhound Arena. The Lady Buffs managed to rally
for a 64-58 Lone Star Conference win, in the regular
season finale for both teams. Eastern’s seniors
stepped up their games for the home finale, with
Sarah Stinnett leading the pack with a 22-point, eight-
rebound performance. Jordyn Cooper and Brittany
Gutierrez hit for nine and eight points, respectively.
Miranda Moore dished out three assists, while
Jaylyn Cooper came up with a pair of rebounds. The
Greyhounds will face second seeded Angelo State
on Wednesday at 12 p.m. CT, to open play in the
LSC Championships. WT will enter the field as the
top seed and face Midwestern State, on Wednesday
evening. The wild game featured 11 lead changes and
11 tie scores. The Lady Buffs held decisive leads in
points off turnovers (18-6) and second-chance points
(18-5). Neither team was able to build a lead of more
than four points in the opening half, with Stinnett
and Kassandra Harris combining for 15 points to keep
the Hounds within three, 29-26 at intermission. The
Greyhounds outscored WT 15-10 in the third quarter,
but were unable to build a lead, as neither team
could sustain momentum. After Hotchkins trey gave
ENMU its final lead, the Lady Buffs went on an 18-5
run to seize a 57-46 advantage, midway through the
final quarter. Stinnett scored five straight points in a
7-0 run to close within four points, but the Lady Buffs
traded free throws with ENMU down the stretch to
hold on for the win. The Greyhounds held a 42.9-35.7
percent advantage in shooting, but the Lady Buffs
enjoyed a 40-27 lead on the boards. Stinnett notched
her third 20-point performance in the last five games.
Eliza Martinez blocked two shots.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State dropped a 77-61 contest to
Cameron in its regular season finale Saturday in
Lawton. The Mustangs were led once again by
sophomore guard Whitney Taylor, who recorded
her fifth 20-point game of the season and third
in the last four games with 23 points. Sophomore
guard Krishawn Crockett also reached double figures
with 14 points while junior forward Jennifer Sissel
recorded 12. The Aggies connected on 13 three-
pointers, shooting a 61.9 percent clip from behind
the arc and 46.7 percent from the field for the game.
The Mustangs were held to 32.9 percent from the
floor while firing 30 percent from long range with
Taylor leading MSU on 4-of-6 shooting from three.
Tarleton State
Tarleton dropped Saturday’s regular season finale to
Texas A&M-Commerce and will rematch the Lions
Thursday at 6 p.m. in the first round of the LSC
Tournament in Allen.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The 78-71 win over Tarleton State gave the Lions
their 16th win this season, as well as their 10th
win at home. The Lions have accomplished these
two milestones for the first time since the 2008-09
season. This last win also gave the Lions their 20th
win over Tarleton State in program history. The Lions
and TexAnns split the season series, but will play for a
third time in the quarterfinals of the LSC Tournament
on Thursday, March 3 at 6 pm in Allen, Texas.
Texas A&M-Kingsville

Texas Woman’s
TWU finished the regular season with a 20-8 overall
record and 10-6 LSC record. It’s the second 20-win
season in school history and the 10 conference wins
tied the school record for most wins in a season. The
Pioneers also won 10 games in 1989-90, 2010-11 and
2013-14. Junior Kenesha Saygo leads the Pioneers in
scoring with 12.0 points per game while junior Erin
Maxwell has a team-best 7.9 rebounds and 73 blocks.
Maxwell also leads LSC in both rebounds and blocks.
Freshman Kara Mitchell is the team leader in assists
(58) and steals (41) while senior Dani Westerfield is
the leader in shooting percentage with a .481. In
the 15 LSC games this season Saygo has averaged
14.1 points and 4.1 rebounds while Maxwell posted
10.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 37 blocks. Sophomore
Alexis Nezianya also has 7.4 rebounds per game and
13 blocks against the conference foes.
West Texas A&M
The No. 9/12 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs won their
third-straight Lone Star Conference regular season
title and 14th overall with a 64-58 win at Eastern New
Mexico on Saturday evening...The Lady Buffs are the
#1-seed heading into the 2016 Lone Star Conference
Championship next week in Allen, Texas...WT had four
players in double figures led by junior Maddison Wild
with 17 points and 11 rebounds as she tallied her
third double-double of the season...Senior Michaela

LSC, CITY OF FRISCO TO HOST 2016
MEN’S BASKETBALL ELITE EIGHT
The NCAA awarded the 2016 Division II Men’s
Basketball Elite Eight to the city of Frisco, Texas.
The Lone Star Conference and Frisco Convention &
Visitors Bureau will host the event March 23-24-26.
The Elite Eight will take place in the state of Texas
