After logging in to Moodle, click on the course in which you want to create a forum.
In this case, click on Demo Course.

Click on Turn editing on at the top right corner to switch to the editing mode.

Choose a topic, say Topic 1, that you would like to create a discussion forum in.

Select Forum from the Add an activity... pull-down menu.

You must input a title into the Forum name field.
In this case, we type in “How to be a good Teacher”.

You are also required to type something in the Forum introduction text box.
In the case, we type in “Give your view of this topic”.

Then click on the Save and return to course button.

9. Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology Moodle Series: Creating a Forum in Moodle (Basic)
A forum on “How to be a good Teacher” is created under Topic 1.
Remember to click on the Turn editing off button at the top right corner to switch off the editing mode.
