By default, the front page of a Moodle course is divided into three columns.

In the left column, a number of blocks such as People, Search Forums, Activities, Administration and My courses are
shown.

You can collapse a block (i.e. minimizing it) by clicking on the minimizing icon ( ) at the top right corner of a block.

You can expand a block by clicking on the expansion icon ( ) at the top right corner of a block.

To view the course participants, click on Participants in the People block.

The Search Forums block allows you to search for posts in the discussion forums by typing in keywords of the posts in the text
box.

The Activities block provides quick access to various activities of the course. In this example, we click on Forums to access the
discussion forums in the course.

All forums are listed on this page. To access a forum, click on its name in the Forum column.

In the Administration block, you can view the grades of your assignments and manage your profile. Please refer to the self-
learning material, Customizing my Profile to learn how to set your own profile.

The middle column is Topic outline. All the learning materials such as reading materials, websites, discussion forums and
assignment links, etc are shown in this column. Simply click on the links to access the learning materials.

latest announcements posted in the News forum.

Upcoming Events reminds you about the dates of the upcoming activities, e.g., the due date of an assignment, the test date and
the deadline for submitting posts to the discussion forum.

If you want to view all events in this course, click on Go to calendar... . If you want to create a new event, click on New
