  2. 2. <ul><li>During “Bloody Sunday”, many people were injured due to being clubbed and gassed. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Viola Liuzzo was inspired by the event of Bloody Sunday to protest for the civil rights movement. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>The civil rights march on March 9th was the second attempt of the march of “Bloody Sunday”. This time, more than twice as many people attended, including Viola Liuzzo. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Reverend James Reeb was killed in the second march. Many mourned his death, for he played a big role in the civil rights movement. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>At the end of the long march, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered a speech encouraging the civil rights movement. </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>Tragedy struck at the end of the march as Liuzzo was riding home with another protester called Leroy Moton. Liuzzo was shot and killed while Leroy only suffered some injuries from the crash. </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>Soon after Liuzzo’s death, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed. Evidence suggests that Liuzzo’s death was a contributing factor on the signing of this important document. </li></ul>
