Tupas First Posted 01:13:52 30/08/2010   Filed Under: Volleyball, V-League     MANILA, Philippines—Adamson rolled to an eighth straight win while San Sebastian-Excelroof coasted past Ateneo Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Shakey’s V-League Season 7 Second Conference at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.   The Lady Falcons leaned on the trio of Nerissa Bautista, Angela Benting and Michelle Laborte in crushing an already-eliminated National U squad, 25-20, 25-17, 25-20, for their 10th win in 12 games.   The Lady Stags kept the Lady Falcons company on top by overwhelming Ateneo, 25-19, 25-17, 27-25.   San Sebastian trailed almost the entire third set, and saved a set point at 23-24, before Suzanne Roces delivered crucial kills to seal the win for the Lady Stags.

The Lady Eagles skidded to their third straight loss for a 6-5 card, opening up an opportunity for Lyceum and Far Eastern U, which were playing at presstime, to crash the Final Four.   Both the Lady Pirates and the Lady Tamaraws are running fifth with identical 5-5 records.   Thai import Jeng Bualee led the Lady Stags with 19 points, while Analyn Benito contributed 12, Roces finished with 11, and Elaine Cruz picked up eight points.   The Stags yielded nine more points on errors but made up for it with a solid attacking game.   The Lady Falcons, led by Bautista with 13 points, simply overwhelmed the Lady Bulldogs with their solid attacking game.   Adamson drew 43 points off attacks, but had 22 errors compared to NU’s 11.   Benting and Laborte had 11 points for the Lady Falcons, who also got nine markers from Pau Soriano.
