The Red Devils - Supporting Breast Cancer Patients and Their Families
1. Your invitation to bring hope to families living with breast cancer.

2. Last night was the first night that
I actually laid my head on my pillow
and slept. The reason I slept was
because yesterday I was told that
The Red Devils would pay my rent.
When I first heard the news, my initial
reaction was disbelief. Then I started
to cry. When I was without rent or late,
I did not see an end to that. You came
to the rescue. Robyn
Treatment is a long journey made up
of many appointments and reliable
transportation is essential. Over time my
medical bills grew so I sold my possessions, including my car. My friends and
neighbors volunteered to drive, but their
offers faded as the months passed.
Without your service, I could not have
gotten to all of my appointments. Nancy
Since 2002, The Red Devils has been making an
immediate and profound impact on the lives of breast
cancer families living in Maryland. By funding their
transportation to treatment, family support needs,
and medical services and treatment-related therapies,
The Red Devils has removed the barriers to treatment
for more than 4,000 women since our founding.
Until there is a cure, breast cancer patients know they
can rely on The Red Devils to bring them and their
families hope.
2014 will be the 12th year for our 5K run and 1 mile
walk to support Maryland breast cancer families. From
its beginnings at a Howard County park with barely 50
participants to its current Goucher College home with
more than 1,000 registrants and donors, Running with
The Devils has become a Central Maryland tradition.
Proceeds from Running with The Devils -- $125,000 -will improve the quality of life for more than 400
families in 2014.
3. Running with The Devils is a family-friendly event accessible to anyone who wants to spend
three hours on a Sunday morning wearing horns and breaking a bit of a sweat! This is a 5K
unlike any other not just because the participants are wearing disco sequined Horns of Hope,
but because everyone who arrives on site is greeted by one or more of the members of the
families who founded the organization and personally thanked for supporting our cause.
Running with The Devils offers its participants and sponsors an intimacy of scale that cannot
be found in marathons or festivals. That valued attribute, plus knowing where the money
goes: TO MARYLAND FAMILIES LIVING WITH BREAST CANCER, and how those funds are
spent: NINETY CENTS OF EVERY DOLLAR DIRECTLY BENEFITS A PATIENT, explains why
so many people return every year and bring others to join them.
On Sunday, June 8th, we anticipate between 1,000 and 1,200 people will earn their Horns of
Hope!
Each registrant receives a drawstring goodie bag, stuffed with souvenirs and treats. Survivors
who join us for the morning receive a special gift honoring their journey. Our guests feast on
a complimentary array of bagels, fruit and beverages before and after the race. At their
leisure, they may enjoy the event Village where tented spaces host our BIG TENT RAFFLE,
FUN & GAMES CORNER, MASSAGE THERAPY, PARTNER HOSPITALS, and OTHER VENDORS.
The 5K runners respond to the starting horn at 8:30 that morning, followed by the 1 mile
walkers. Runners wind their way through campus to the streets of Towson before making
their way back to the Charm City Run finishing arch. Our walkers remain on campus. By 9:30,
we are ready to award medals to our top finishers AND to those who accomplished
fundraising, team building, and spirit milestones.
In years past, Baltimore's mayor (whose mother is a breast cancer survivor), has joined us on
stage to congratulate the finishers. We've also received proclamations from the County
Executive and Congressional Delegates.
Running with The Devils is an established platform with a solid track record of
attendance, support, and impact on The Red Devils mission to improve the quality of
life for breast cancer patients and their families.
