I learned a lot of great stuff in school, here’s what
made a difference:
I did a lot of research on my own time learning about different
materials and techniques (conventional and not). Historically why
these process were created and how I can integrate those
techniques into my art.
My grandfather was a big influence on my art making. After
being diagnosed with Alzheimer I was more aware of accessibility
(and lack there of) within the arts. Being more aware of art
practices and art viewing pushed my work in a more meaningful
direction for me.
I acknowledged that even though in the beginning I had a hard
time expressing myself through my art I would always keep
making work.
As cheesy as it may be, I never considered my mistakes as a set
back, every error that I made was only a chance for me to learn
and approach what I’m doing differently. In the end I wouldn’t be
the artist that I am today if it weren’t for my mistakes.

Introduction to wood burning as a craft and as an art form.

6. Book-Making/Book-Binding
Developing new skills related to book making and book art. This includes zines, pop-up
books, flag-books etc.!

7. Sketchbook/Portfolio Workshops
I’ve managed to keep all my sketchbooks and projects from middle school to high school . Since I
attended an art magnet for high school, I’m familiar with the selection process and I can be of great
assistance in aiding the development of the student's body of work, help flush out ideas etc.

8. Fibers/Basket Weaving
Let's learn how to make some looms at home! Learning about the history of looming and basket
can help develop a specific interest that can later lead to bigger projects. (Installations, garments,
performance art etc.)

9. Graphic Design
Learning about basic concepts of graphic design such as typography, composition, hierarchy can fit
almost any form of art making and there's no requirement to know photoshop or illustrator.
poster design, book design and even packaging design done by hand allows for new textures and
different styles to arise. (Any and all materials are welcomed)

10. Paper Making
Introduction to basic paper making at home, creating different textures and even
images to homemade paper. Experimental approaches welcomed!
