Mitosis
- Surface Area: Volume Ratio; the smaller the ratio is the more efficient
- Cell division allows for the growth of an organism by producing more copies of cells- and also
allow for more cell differentiation to occur
- Mitosis is the division of eukaryotic nucleus, making sure each daughter cell has a full set of
chromosomes and is genetically identical to the parent cell
- Mitosis can only occur in eukaryotic cells
- Each new nucleus is diploid (2n), with a complete set of chromosomes.
- Humans have 23(n) chromosomes, Diploid (2n) is 46
- Just before prophase the cell has two copies of chromosomes
- Every eukaryotic has genes on chromosomes, storage units of the cell
