5 INT.BEDROOM.DAY 5
A very neat and perfect looking soulless bedroom.
Perfectly placed objects adorn the room.
China dolls, statues, vases, frames on the walls. A small
single bed neatly made with pink duvet cover.
(off screen) Hear her reading names of obituary.
In the corner of the room is a simple homemade tent made
from two chairs and a sheet, there is no light coming from
the sheets, it is partially blocking any natural light
entering from the windows. Jennifer is sitting within.

I don’t like to talk about the
things most other kids talk
about.
I don’t like talking about boys
or other meaningless topics
but i guess nothing is
meaningless to me. And thats part
of the problem.
6 INT.TENT.DAY 6
Inside the tent is Jennifer a ten year old with black
curly hair and brown bug eyes. She is in her old
fashioned, floral dress and heavy face makeup. She is
reading the obituary in the times. She is reading aloud
each name in differently toned voices to match how she
imagines the people spoke. She draws pictures and creates
stories of each name she reads from the obituary. She is
surrounded by items. A globe of the world, a vinyl record
player and a stack of encyclopaedias.
There is one obituary she is obsessed with. His name was
Sir Nelson Fordman. He lived on her road. She creates
stories about what she imagined his life to be. Creates
sketches. Writes stories. What he looked like and what he
did in his life was created in her mind. She decides to
find out more about his life. She keeps it all to herself.
She wants to see if her imagination could become a
reality. This will not be shown, but suggested.
Towards the end, vague and subtle stair creaking will be
heard. A knock at the door will pause Jennifer in her
tracks.

Jennifer, time for lunch (shouts
through the door).
Jennifer frantically dismantles all of her prized
possessions and hides them in the most creative ways. Her
newspaper is stuck under her mattress. remove window ledge
and theres a hollow hole where she shoves in lots of
belongings. She pulls up the carpet and pries open the
floorboard which she puts all of her things into. The
chairs are placed neatly beneath the window sill and the
sheet goes back onto her bed.
She races out of her room, and the slowly walks down the
stairs to her mother.
