This document summarizes Jake Jarvis's evaluation of an FMP project. It describes the strengths and weaknesses of the project's research, planning, time management, technical qualities, aesthetic qualities, and audience appeal based on peer feedback. The peer feedback suggested adding more content, levels, and rewards to engage players longer, and improving graphics and character designs to make the game world more immersive. Based on the feedback, Jake would improve the project by adding more content and improving graphics and character designs.
3. Research
My research helped my product because i first started to look
at existing products within the market to get an idea of the
type of game we should be making.
One strength of my research is that it helped me decide what
features the game would have for example the game is set at
night to fit the horror genre better.
One weakness of my research is that we did not conduct any
questionnaires or interviews with the target audience. If we
did this it could of given better insight into the game
Another weakness of my research is that we could of looked at
the latest existing products than before as the products I
looked at were older
4. Planning
One strength of my planning is that when trying to figure out what
content to be in the game i started to mind map our thoughts to
have a clear way to write my notes down
Another strength of my planning was that when doing a style sheet
for the game it helps find out what colour schemes to use and you
can find fonts for any text you may want during the game.
Another strength was that when doing contingency planning it helps
out because you know what possible problems can arise and also how
to solve the problem with a quick and easy solution
One weakness of my planning is that we could of put more work into
the stylesheet as we could had a more aesthetically pleasing game
Another weakness of my panning is that i struggled to make a
schedule where i kept to deadlines. So next time i will create a
schedule with more time in between deadlines to keep to them
and make sure im on track
5. Time Management
Personally I think I could've managed my time better because I
did not meet the deadline. I could of managed my time better
by using a schedule that was designed better to keep me on
track for my work. I could also manage my time better by
having the correct software to do the work at home or in my
spare time
If I had more time to produce my work I would of hopefully
created a more professional looking game and I would have
met the deadline I set on my schedule
6. Technical Qualities
My game took 1 person and adobe
photoshop whereas the indie horror game
the maze was created by Ukrainian games
developers company “ AP group” and the
AP Group will have used 3D editing
software to create the game whereas my
game is 2D
One similarity between
both games is that
they both have the
main setting of an
eerie maze
One big difference
between the games is that
in one game you have
birds eye view of the maze
and in the other you are in
first pov in the maze
7. Aesthetic Qualities
Personally i think my piece of work is
aesthetically pleasing for the software
i used to create the game. The image
resolution is clear in everything there
is no blurry pictures. I could improve
upon the visual quality of my game if i
could get more comfortable with
photoshop or start using 3d editing
software to create a more creative
game. One weakness of my work is
that i could of put more effort into the
design of the main character the
player uses.
8. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my target
audience by making the game
easy and simplistic to control
for Children 12+ i have tried to
make the game appeal to as
many genders as possible by
not referring to any gender
stereotypes.
I have tried to bring the
audience into a community by
appealing to the psychographic
of the belonger my making the
game have leaderboards to
create a sense of competition
between player.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product? I really
enjoyed the main character and the main
overall theme of the game
What improvements could have been made to
the product?
More content possible more levels or reward
scheme to bring back players
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product? I
enjoyed the simplistic controls because it
makes it easy for anyone to play the game
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• Personally I think the character design is to
simplistic I would like to see better game
graphics
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
• I liked the concept of having limited time to
get through the maze making players have to
make rash decisions that can be quicker or
hinder your time when going through the
maze
What improvements could have been made to
the product?
More level detail to make the game world seem
more immersive.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback? I
agree with the majority of my feedback such as
needing more content to fill the game and also
improve the game graphics to make the game seem
more immersive for the player
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? I
don’t disagree with any of my feedback because I could
make improvements to my final product to make it
more of a professional game
14. Peer Feedback Summary
I would change my final product based on feedback because my
final product is quite simplistic. The first feedback I received “More
content possible more levels or reward scheme to bring back
players” due to this feedback I would improve my game by creating
more content and levels so that players can play the game for
longer and have a good time. I would also like to change my
product because of the second feedback I received “Personally I
think the character design is to simplistic I would like to see better
game graphics” by Improving the character and level designs to
make a more immersive world for the player to be in.
