Ernesto "Che" Guevara was a Marxist revolutionary, politician, author, physician, military theorist, and guerrilla leader from Argentina. He was inspired by poets and writers to see armed revolution as a solution to social inequality. He traveled throughout South America and joined Fidel Castro's rebel army in Cuba's revolution. As a key leader, he helped Castro take control of Cuba and establish communist rule. Guevara later left Cuba to spread revolution in other countries, but was eventually captured and executed in Bolivia in 1967. Though controversial, he remains a beloved icon for his revolutionary ideals and commitment to helping the poor.
