2. Trajan’s Market
Trajan's Market is a large complex of ruins in the city
of Rome located on the via Dei Fori Imperiali opposite
the Colosseum, built around 2nd
century.
Thought to be the world's oldest shopping mall, the
arcades in Trajan's Market are now believed to be
administrative offices for Emperor Trajan.
The shops and apartments were built in a multi-level
structure. It is still possible to visit several of the levels.

4. The Black Market of Rome
The Black Market began in the winter of 1941 and '42
(during World War II) as a parallel market, illegal, but
regularly used.
People who had silverware, gold, linen, embroidered
linen, clocks, antiques, sold them to buy food.

bakeries could
guarantee bread to
population. Everyday
they were full of
hungry people.
6. Porta Portese
Porta Portese is one of the Gates of Rome. The main river
port “Ripa Grande” was situated nearby.
The most Famous ‘flea market’ in Rome is situated
between via Portuense and viale Trastevere.Every
Saturday night the sellers start preparing their products
for Sunday morning.
There are every kind of goods: antiques, bronze and
copper objects, old and new clothes, painting and so
on.
8. Piazza Navona Christmas
Market
In Piazza Navona there is the most famous Christmas
market in Rome.
The vendors, especially craftsmen, have often inherited
stall and licenses from their parents if not their
grandparents.
In Piazza Navona you can find all kinds of decorations for
the Nativity scene, Christmas trees, table or sweets for all
ages and a lot of gifts such as toys or cheap leather
products.
10. Ponte Milvio market
This is the first antique
market in Rome and it
started to operate around
1998. It takes place on the
1st and the 2nd Sunday of
the month. It is situated
near the north bank of the
River Tiber.
11. Flowers Market
A triumph of colors, shapes,
scents and varieties: this is the
flower market.
Officially opened to the public
for a few hours on Tuesday
morning, this market is situated
in via Trionfale in the North of
the City.
The advantage of this market is
of course prices as well as the
wide variety of colors, flowers
and plants.
