The Center of the Bible
1. The Center of the Bible
MY MIND OR THE WORD OF THE LORD?
It was in the mind of David to build a house for God, but the
Word of the Lord would not allow it (1 Chron. 22:7-8).
I need to learn that there may be some things in my mind that
are not according to the Word of the Lord.
What is the shortest chapter in the Bible?
Answer: Psalm 117
What is the longest chapter in the Bible?
Answer: Palm 119
Which chapter is in the center of the Bible? Answer: Psalm 118
Fact: There are 594 chapters before Psalm 118
Fact: There are 594 chapters after Psalm 118
Add these numbers up and you get 1188.
What is the center verse in the Bible? Answer Psalm 118:8
Does this verse say something significant about God’s perfect
will for our lives?
The next time someone says they would like to find God’s
perfect will for their lives and that they want to be in the center
of His will, just send them to the center of His word!!!
Psalm 118:8 (NKJV) “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put
confidence in man.”
Now isn’t that odd how this worked out (or was God in the center
of it)?
Dear readers, if you haven’t taken a special interest in studying
the Bible, do so today. If you heed to what God tells you within
its pages you’ll be happy you did and you’ll be eternally happy
when this earthly life is over!!!
1) MECHANICAL INSTRUMENTS OF MUSIC
It is in the minds of some people today to use mechanical
instruments of worship unto God. A reading of the New
Testament will show this is not according to the Word of
the Lord. The Lord just said, “Singing” (Ephesians 5:19;
Colossians 3:16).
2) KITCHENS AND FELLOWSHIP HALLS
It is in the mind of many that the church should have a
kitchen and fellowship hall where people can get together
socially. Where does the Word of the Lord authorize the
church to furnish such? The Word of the Lord says, “For
the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but
righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit”
(Romans 14:17), and “If any man hunger let him eat at
home” (1 Corinthians 11:34).
3) SECULAR SCHOOLS
It is in some people’s mind that the church ought to support
a preschool, elementary school, high school or college. The
church is the “Pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Timothy
3:15); not reading, writing and arithmetic!
4) BALL TEAMS
In the mind of some is the idea that we need to form teams
and participate in “the church leagues”. Do you ever read
of the “Roman Candles,” “Corinthian Crusaders,” or
“Galatian Cross Bearers” in your Testament?
Are we bent on doing what is in our mind, or will we
respect the Word of the Lord?
