4. THE DEFINITION
WHAT CONFUCIANISM IS, AND WHAT IT STANDS FOR
Confucianism is not so much of a religion as a
philosophy
This made it popular, as someone could
believe in a religion and Confucianism
Believes in... Ren-benevolence, Zhong-loyalty to
yourself, Shu-reciprocity, Xiao-filial piety, and
Li-ritual practices. These all fall under the
category of Allde-Virtue
Stressed truthfulness, a distaste for violence, and
moderation of everything
Confucius invented the golden rule: Do unto
others as you would be done by
Reciprocity-Giving, not just getting Filial piety-A respect for ones parents.
