3. Logos / Colour
When looking at all these logos I found I did find a common colour through out them all which seemed to be blue. Which did surprise me as when
I did some research on colours and what goes with what I found that the colour green is used for mental health. Which has been used in some of
these logos but I would still say that blue has been used more. But I wouldn't’t say that blue is a bad colour to use as when you search up blue
and the colour meaning you will find that it could be used to describe peace or being calm so I think that is a good colour to use for mental health
logos. I think when I want to make my own logo I would like to make it very different from the logos that I have already found as these look very
formal and I want to target a younger audience for my project so I feel like when designing my logo I want to look at it in a different approach. As I
want it to appeal to a younger audience so I don’t think a very formal look would do this so even though it is good to look at already existing ones
I don’t think it helps too much since I want mine to look very different. But it does help me a little in the sense of what colours I could use. As like
I said green is very much associated with mental health so if I was to combine that in with my logo I think it will help younger kids and teens when
they move on from what I'm doing and looking at more formal products when it comes to mental health issues. I think I do like the fact that also a
lot of the logos use the colour blue for the fact that it is a very peaceful colour and I do think it helps a lot when it comes to mental health issues
as the one thing you want to be calm especially if its something like anxiety. So I do think this is another colour that would like to involve in my
own logo. I think when looking at these logos as well the one that I don’t like are the ones that include a rainbow colour in them as I feel like in
my opinion its too much and also when I see rainbow colours in something I normally see that being with the LGTB community so I think in my
opinion that is something that I would like to stay away from. Another thing that I would like to stay away from is the fact that a few of the logos
have something to do about the head like a brain or some even have a scribble. Which in my opinion yes it does go with mental health but I
wouldn't want to include it as I feel like sometimes people can get the wrong idea. So when I do my own logo this isn't something that you will
see with mine. As a lot of these logos I would rather move away from and create something new that hasn’t really been done before when it
comes to mental health because like I said they all look formal so you would expect their target to be a older audience but I want to target more
of a younger audience. I'm looking more at pre-teens up until the age of 20. As when looking I cant find anything targeting this kind of age group
and in my opinion its these age groups that need the most help as their just finding out what mental health issues really are and are also starting
to experience them for themselves. As at the end of the day my target is to help people before its too late in a sense as I feel like its only recently
that the younger generations are getting taught about mental health this comes from things that Netflix have started with their TV show 13
Reasons Why which looks more at the build of a series of events that can turn into something bad. Which in my opinion I though this TV show
was do really well to show people its never just one things that makes this happen. Then you have the movie they made called To The Bone which
looks more at a girl dealing having issues with eating. I feel like this movie wasn’t done too well but its still getting the message out their.
4. Websites
Here are some websites I've found when it comes to mental health. Like the logos all these look
really formal and this is something that I would like to stay away from. As I feel like yes these
websites will help people as they give a lot of information about mental health issues but the look
of them I feel would scare a younger audience away as they don’t look very inviting which then
could scare them away and away from the help they actually may need. SO for my target audience
around 14-20yr olds I feel like I want to add colour and life into the website I design so they feel
comfortable getting the help that they needs in a difficult time of their life.
5. For my research on posters for mental health issues I found some from the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, I thought these would be good to look at as it can still give
me an idea for how I would like to do my own posters when I make them and to give me some ideas. For a mental health poster I do like these posters for how
they’ve been laid out for the fact that you have just simple portrait photographs of people but even all of the photographs they are different you have some people
that are smiling and others who just have an emotionless kind of expression on their faces. But then over these portraits you have pieces of paper with just a single
word on them. When you watch the TV series they do make more sense for the fact its to do with that character but I still think for an idea it is good but also what
some of them say as well I think for a mental health issue they still are good as well for example ‘You couldn't save me’ This can go very well with mental health as a
quote as sometimes friends or family think that they can help you when you are experiencing mental health issues but the truth is that at the end of the day the only
person that can help you is yourself. As people can try and help and it can help a little but not as much as they think it would. Another quote you have is ‘If you could,
would you take it back?’ I feel like this is more of a quote for people with anxiety if you didn't think about the TV series this more to do with the fact that people with
anxiety can over think a lot about the past or what could happen in the future. So I do think this quote goes well apart from it would be more of a negative then a
positive. But overall I think I will take a little bit of inspiration from these posters as for mental health I do think that it can work really well but I wouldn’t do it exactly
like this I would change up a lot more but I do think it was good to look at these just to help me for an idea that I could do for my own posters when I start making
them.
6. Here I looked at some merchandise but more at
tops and t-shirts. I did manage to find a few but I
don’t think any of them really catch my eye of
something that I could do or try myself. I think if I
was to make my own tops and things for my
campaign I would take it a different way to all of
these as some of these I don’t feel like people
would actually buy and wear in public.
