3. Placing rubbish in the
bin is a marvellous
thing and helps stop
pollution going down
drains.
4. Oil spills can become very harmful to
marine life and can leave them
paralyzed and highly flammable.
Oil spills also leave the sea a dangerous
place for swimming.
5. It is important to remember that pouring
liquids such as paints, dyes and pesticides
down the drain or sink means it will be
transported through Sydney before
reaching the harbour. That will leave it
poisonous to fish and anemones.
6. If substances such as leaves, dirt and grass
find their way into our drains, then they can
block up the entire drain. This will leave the
leaves and other substances stuck in the drain
and after a few weeks they will begin to go
into Sydney Harbour and pollute the waters.
