Goals:
       - My goal was to bring a snapshot of information about
the Tasmanian Devil to my audience in hopes that they would
want to find out more about why this animal who is important
to Australia is disappearing at a rapid pace.

Audience:
       - My audience was intended to be young students to
adults. I wanted to create a piece that was pleasing
regardless of age and with information that was easy to
comprehend at any level and age.

Message:
        - My message was that Tasmanian Devils are currently
becoming endangered and possibly extinct due to a cancer
that attacks their face and prevents them from breathing and
eating.
Endangered. Disappearing. Diseased … Extinction?

THEN:
Once abundant throughout Australia, Tasmanian Devils are now only found on the Australian
Island of Tasmania. They are believed to have become extinct on the mainland due to preying
dingoes.
NOW:
“Devil facial tumor” has killed tens of thousands of Tasmanian devils since the 1990’s.
Biologists are now trying to save the remaining devils who have not been introduced to this
contagious disease.
Changes made between first design and Repetition Design:

- I changed the layout completely and used more colors in my design.
- I changed the photos to articulate what was being read in my
    description section.
- I put a background behind my maps and labeled them.
- I changed the font type and style.
- I repeated the color of blue and black throughout my slide and the
    layout of the photos.
THEN:
                  Once abundant throughout
                  Australia, Tasmanian Devils are now

decorative slide.
- I changed the layout of the text boxes and the photos to play around with the

- I changed the size and boldness of the font.
- I created a banner across the top with the title to grab the attention of my

Changes between font style and Final:

- I changed the entire thing and focused on a color scheme that complimented
each other. I chose blue and orange hues and shades. I put a block of color
behind the photos to help pull them together.
- I aligned the photos with the title edges and the text boxes with the photos.
- I aligned the block of blue with the text boxes as well.
- I wanted to keep the design simple and unified as well as clean and presentable.
I didn’t feel that going all out and making radical designs behind the photo and
text would be conducive to the importance of what is currently going on with the
animal. I didn’t want to distract from my message.
- I also changed my font style so that it complimented one another rather than
contrasting in a way that was difficult and frustrating to read.

Editor's Notes

  1. Repetition: I repeated the same font in the two bolded/colored blocks of text; Elephant. I also colored in the text boxes. I also used the same sizing for the Australia and Tasmania map and the same size for the two photos. I repeated place the photo/map centered to each other and the text from THEN and NOW the same size, color and font type. All my font is in Elephant style. I think this improved my design some, but I also think it looks a bit busy.
  2. Contrast: I contrasted the font in the “then and now” with the title and heading on the side. I also shape filled the text boxes to make them pop out more than the title. I left out the maps on this one to see if that would make a difference in the look. I think this design works, but I feel like it is still missing something.
  3. Decorative: I used two decorative fonts and contrasted them with the fonts being capital and the other being lower case. They are also two very different sizes. I don’t like the way it looks but I went out on a limb and tried something crazy.
