Economist Pankaj Ghemawat stirred up controversy when he wrote “just a fraction of what we consider globalization actually exists… [and] globalization’s future is more fragile than you know.” But how can that be? We live in a wired (and wireless) economy where a designer in Amsterdam collaborates with an engineer in Silicon Valley under the supervision of a Parisian manager, to manufacture goods in Shenzhen for the Brazilian market. Isn’t this world supposed to be “flat,” as Thomas Friedman famously declared? In reality, much of our work is distributed across distant places, and leading organizations identify globalization as one of their key strategic goals. But the potential power of our globalized economy has yet to be fully realized. “In 2004 less than 1 percent of all U.S. companies had foreign operations, and of these the largest fraction operated in just one foreign country… None of these statistics has changed much in the past 10 years,” states Ghemawat in his book “World 3.0.” The incongruous state of globalization is nowhere as apparent as in the physical workplace. Workers’ behaviors, preferences, expectations and social rituals at work around the world can vary vastly, yet many multinational firms that expand to far-flung corners of the world simply replicate their workplace blueprints from home. Should today’s work environments become globalized into a cohesive form? Or should they remain locally rooted? The global business world has shed a bright light on cultural differences and generated an extensive examination of values and behaviors around the world. Yet despite obvious differences in the design and utilization of work environments, little attention has been given to the implications of culture on space design. As a result, leaders of multinational organizations often don’t realize that, when used as a strategic tool, workplaces that balance local and corporate culture can expedite and facilitate the process of global integration.

Соціальний проект «Надихаю дихати» створено благодійним фондом "Сіяння". Завдання проекту: привернути увагу українців до наслідків вирубки лісів в Україні на прикладі Києва та Київської області, а також надихнути максимальну кількість людей на вирішення проблеми спільними зусиллями. Чому «Надихаю дихати»? Тому що ліси – це єдиний виробник кисню на нашій планеті. Їх значення для нашого виживання важко переоцінити. Вирубка дерев ставить кожну людину під загрозу вимирання, адже дихання – наша головна потреба. Ми створюєм дуже розумні машини, любимо, ненавидимо, наполегливо працюємо або лінуємося. І в кожному русі є необхідність дихати киснем, якого на планеті стає все менше і менше, а його споживачів – усе більше й більше. Ти можеш заперечити, що дерев навколо і так вистачає. Але чи знаєш ти, що Україна, в порівнянні з іншими країнами світу, вважається малолісистою країною? Наші ліси займають лише шосту частину території, що в кілька разів менше, ніж у більшості європейських країн. Чи знаєш ти, що ліси вирубують так швидко, що нові дерева не встигають виростати? Завдяки високому попиту на українську деревину за кордоном, чимала частка законно і незаконно вирубаного лісу йде на експорт. І на тлі загальної байдужості він збільшується з кожним днем. Експерти в області екології одностайні: вирубка лісів – одна з головних екологічних проблем України. Ліси – це не просто дерева. Це цілі екосистеми. Світи і всесвіти для величезної кількості тварин, комах і птахів. І вони дуже швидко гинуть навіть при невеликому втручанні людини. Водночас провокують багаторівневу екологічну катастрофу, яка стосується безпосередньо кожного з нас: одного разу наші діти одягнуть скафандри і почнуть ходити по Землі, як по безповітряному Марсу. Ми – люди 21-го століття, привертаємо увагу до цієї проблеми і розуміємо, що в рамках одного проекту важко змінити ситуацію в країні загалом. Але почати про це говорити і робити хоча б невеликі кроки необхідно вже зараз. Приєднуйся до нас, адже тільки разом ми зможемо змінити ситуацію!! Наш конкретний план: 1. Знайти місце вирубки лісу в Київській області загальною площею 4 Га, де можна було б відновити лісовий масив, або посадити цілий сквер у Києві. 2. Зібрати матеріальні засоби на закупівлю посадкового матеріалу, а також необхідного інвентарю та інших, пов’язаних з акцією, витрат у розмірі 150 000 грн. 3. Організувати флеш-моб з висадки саджанців відповідних порід дерев на обраній території, який відбудеться орієнтовно на початку березня. 4. Створити інтерактивну карту Києва і області, на якій будуть відзначені локації, де люди зможуть садити дерева самі або за допомогою волонтерів.

حضرت مسیح موعودعلیہ السلام کی متضرعانہ دعائیں حضرت مرزا غلام احمد صاحب قادیانی مسیح موعود علیہ السلام کی سیرت کا مطالعہ کرنے سے یہ بات نمایاں طورپر سامنے آتی ہے کہ آپ کااوڑھنا بچھونا گویادعا ہی تھا اورآپ کا سارا انحصار محض اپنے رب کریم کی ذات پر تھا ۔ چنانچہ آپ فرماتے ہیں: ’’دعا میں خدا تعالیٰ نے بڑی قوتیں رکھی ہیں۔ خدا تعالیٰ نے مجھے باربار بذریعہ الہامات کے یہی فرمایا ہے کہ جو کچھ ہوگا دعا ہی کے ذریعہ ہوگا‘‘۔(ملفوظات جدید ایڈیشن جلد ۵ صفحہ ۳۶) ’’دعا کے لئے رقّت والے الفاظ تلاش کرنے چاہئیں ۔ یہ مناسب نہیں کہ انسان مسنون دعاؤں کے ایسا پیچھے پڑے کہ ان کوجنتر منتر کی طرح پڑھتا رہے اور حقیقت کو نہ پہچانے۔۔۔۔۔۔ اپنی زبان میں جس کو تم خوب سمجھتے ہو، دعاکرو تاکہ دعا میں جوش پیدا ہو‘‘ خود آپ کو اپنی دعاؤں میں جوش حاصل تھا چنانچہ فرماتے ہیں: ’’خدا نے مجھے دعاؤں میں وہ جوش دیا ہے جیسے سمندرمیں ایک جوش ہوتاہے‘‘۔ (ملفوظات جلد ۳ صفحہ ۱۲۷) دعا حضرت مسیح موعود علیہ السلام کی زندگی کا عنوان تھا۔ آ پ نے اپنی جماعت کو بھی دعائیں کرنا سکھایا اور اس کی حقیقت سمجھا ئی اور فرمایا کہ دعا جنتر منتر کی طرح الفاظ پڑھنے کا نام نہیں بلکہ اس کی حقیقت کو سمجھنا چاہئے اور اس میں رقّت اور اضطراب پیدا کرنا چاہئے

Tracing the root cause of a performance issue requires a lot of patience, experience, and focus. It’s so hard that we sometimes attempt to guess by trying out tentative fixes, but that usually results in frustration, messy code, and a considerable waste of time and money. This talk explains how to correctly zoom in on a performance bottleneck using three levels of profiling: distributed tracing, metrics, and method profiling. After we learn to read the JVM profiler output as a flame graph, we explore a series of bottlenecks typical for backend systems, like connection/thread pool starvation, invisible aspects, blocking code, hot CPU methods, lock contention, and Virtual Thread pinning, and we learn to trace them even if they occur in library code you are not familiar with. Attend this talk and prepare for the performance issues that will eventually hit any successful system.
