Redesign of the assignment module.
This is only a short term fix as it is not clear how long the old assignment module will be supported and as the integration relies on MNET, it is also not clear how long this will be supported into the future. MOODLE Roadmap – Major project for the near future:Mnet - replacement using standard Oauth2 mechanisms and web services

What is LTI – Learning Tools InteroperabilityThe external tool is another way that you can extend the functionality of Moodle by using additional external tools. It allows users to interact with LTI-compliant learning resources and activities, external to the Moodle site. LTI stands for Learning Tools Interoperability. For example users could access learning materials from an external publisher. Tools such as WordPress (blog) are LTI compliant. Connecting to LTI tools has been available in Moodle from version 2.2.“The basic use case behind the development of the LTI specification is to allow the seamless connection of web-based, externally hosted applications and content, or Tools (from simple communication applications like chat, to domain-specific learning environments for complex subjects like math or science) to platforms that present them to users. In other words, if you have an interactive assessment application or virtual chemistry lab, it can be securely connected to an educational platform in a standard way without having to develop and maintain custom integrations for each platform. “Would work with a different authentication, OAuth, instead of MNET.The solution would allow for the archiving of the submitted pages and therefore tick off the highest item on our clients wish list.
