INTRODUCTION • Obesity in children is a complex disorder. • Children who are obese tend to become obese adults. • Its prevalence has increased so significantly in recent years that many consider it a major health concern of the developed world. • Factors, including,genetics, environment, metabolism, lifestyle, and eating habits, are believed to play a role in the development of obesity. Hormonal or genetic causes too constitute a reason for obesity.
  3. 3. REASONS FOR OBESITY • Unhealthy Eating Habits Kids nowadays are more into fast and junk foods. This type of food items contain unhealthy fats and oils and high sugar contents, which will lead to high cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease etc.
  4. 4. • Genetic Factor Children whose parents or brothers or sisters are overweight may be at an increased risk of becoming overweight themselves. If there is a family tendency to become overweight, parents need to be even more aware of making healthy food choices for the whole family.
  5. 5. • Lack Of Physical Activity Kids are all now addicted to video games and high intelligent gadgets. Lack of physical activity or exercise means less calorie burn and this will get accumulated and cause for increase in weight. Find activities that the entire family can enjoy together like swimming and hiking. • Overweight caused by a medical condition such as a hormonal problem is rare in cases and can be find out with a simple blood test and can be cured.

OBESITY PREVENTION TIPS • Encourage the kids to have a healthy eating habit. • Make your kids favorite dish and turn that dish into a healthy dish. • Help your kids understand the benefits of being physically active. • Cut out the time for watching TV and playing video games. • Help kids stay active.
