2. • Originally, they were blobs of steel and
well they still are but they are mascots
for the London Olympics 2012. The
story is where a man had some steel
and he decided to make presents for
his 2 grandchildren and they come to
life and have adventures by travelling
on rainbows.
4. • The Flame will then take a 70 day
journey across the UK, carried by
8000 Torchbearers. The Relay will
generate excitement as it makes its
way to London and the Opening
Ceremony of the Games. The flame
will come within a one hour journey
for 95 per cent of the population of
the UK – with entertainment, shows
and concerts marking its arrival at
each stop.
6. Five Rings
The Olympic symbol (five
interlocked rings) represents
the union of the five original
major continents (Africa,
America, Asia, Australia and
Europe) and the meeting of the
athletes from throughout the
world at the Olympic Games.
The five colours of the rings
from left to right are blue, black
and red across the top and
yellow and green along the
bottom.
