1. 1. Global Warming, Greenhouse Effect, and Climate change
By: Dave Roth and Tommie Stalletti
2. 2. What is Greenhouse Effect? Climate Change? Global Warming?
There are two different types of greenhouse effect, natural, and manmade.
Manmade greenhouse effect is the “enhancement of Earth's natural greenhouse effect by the addition of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels”
Climate change affects more than just weather. It affects seasonal change over long periods of time which can affect ecosystems and change in human ways overall.
Global warming is when the temperature of the Earth rises. It happens when the greenhouse gases trap the suns heat in the Earth.
3. 3. How is greenhouse effect, climate change, and global warming related?
All three (greenhouse effect, climate change, and global warming) affect the Earths rise in temperature.
All three are accused of being caused by the way humans live on Earth.
All three are caused by damage and affects to the atmosphere.
4. 4. What are the Primary Causes of Global Warming?
Greenhouse gases have a huge effect on the Global warming of Earth.
The Sun has a very slight affect on Global warming.
Carbon dioxide concentration, which is the use and emissions of fossil fuels, also plays a major role in Global warming.
5. 5. What are the Possible Consequences if we do not Work to Stop Global Warming
It will have major affects on our health because of heat waves that come through due to Global warming.
Global warming will also have effects on our environment because it is melting the Poles by about 3.8 miles/year. This means that different polar animals will be affected in drastic ways.
Another consequence is Sea-Level Rise. This happens when the Poles melt and that water goes into the Oceans. Scientists predict that by 2040 there will not be a North Pole and by 2070 Glacier National Park will be gone.
6. 6. How is Global Warming Impacting our Economy?
also believe that Global warming can also cause hurricanes which costs the U.S hundreds of millions of dollars. One positive effect the Global warming has on our economy is farming because it provides a longer growing season for Northern farms.
Global warming is also accused of causing forest fires which costs money to put out and kill a lot of wildlife.
7. 7. What are Several ways we can all Fight Global Warming?
One way is if you use your air conditioning or heating less. If you set your heat just 2 degrees lower you could save up to 2,000 pounds of Carbon Dioxide every year.
Another way you can help is by driving less. Or if you do have to drive you can try carpooling or taking the bus to save us from harmful emissions that come from cars.
Another major thing that you can do is encourage others to conserve. If you raise awareness to the cause you can make everyone around you aware of what is going on and then they will also feel obligated to help out in save Earth.
8. 8. What are the Basic Arguments Against Global Warming?
One argument that is made is that our most reliable sources of data shows no temperature change.
According to different statistics the temperature trend is looking rather steady now.
The different scientific instruments show fluctuation in temperature since the creation of the equipment.
9. 9. Personal Educated Opinion
My personal opinion is that I believe that further studies should be conducted in order to confirm whether or not Global warming is true. However I believe that it is not as big of deal as we are making it seem like. I think this because the temperature has always fluctuated since the creation of Earth due to its tilt and rotation. Our modern scientists are just making it seem like our world’s doing the wrong things and drastically harming the environment even though we use the same economical techniques we have used since the 1850’s. I believe that the same controversy will be going around 200 years from now when the Earth is cooling down.
