about where he belongs. He tries to get
Caroline to read it because he can’t read. He is
so afraid of the number 11.

The excerpt of my book is when Sam is trying
to find his birthday presents in the basement.
He opens a box thinking it is his presents, but
it is filled with newspapers and one of them
has a picture of Sam as a little boy. At the top
of the picture, lies the word “Missing.”

I choose this part to be my excerpt because it
makes the story mysterious, exciting, and it
makes me want to find out what happens at
the end of the book.
