Position This mini-internship is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to gain hands-on experience with industry professionals. The qualified candidate must be a declared major or a degreed graduate in public relations, journalism or mass communications. The selected intern should be prepared to dedicate at least 24 hours per week to his/her role at the agency for the next 30-days. Experience with social media in a business setting, event coordination, promotions, and public relations, is a plus. The mini-internship will be structured in accordance to the availability and need of both parties. Required Qualifications Selected candidates will assist Account Executives and Supervisors with any aspect of the 2010 NBA All-Star All Access Pass initiative while learning basic skills in public relations such as research; media list development, news scanning and monitoring, clipping, PR writing and pitch development. Responsibilities Attend weekly team calls and transcribe notes. Assist in managing social media platforms. Learn to operate various media directory services to create media lists and verify information, assuring accuracy of media materials and contacts. Assist event coordinator in researching vendors for events and initiatives. Research media outlets (including bloggers) as it pertains to specific clients. Research and compare competitive estimates for services from vendors. Assist AE’s and Supervisors in gathering clips/placements and mailing to clients. Some administrative duties will be required. Manage the news dashboard for the client. Monitor the other entities that are hosting similar sporting events.
