3. VDI support with Voice and
                 Video
• VDI support for Microsoft based thin clients
• Support for all Lync modalities, including IM, audio, video,
  application sharing, desktop sharing, PowerPoint sharing,
  whiteboard, and file transfer.
• Requires a plugin on the thin client,
• VMware View and Citrix will be supported as well as Microsoft
  Remote Desktop Services

• Archiving and Monitoring Services now
  collocated on Front End/SE (still need SQL
  store)
• Directors are now an optional role
• XMPP now included on Front End/Edge
• Persistent Chat can be co-located on an Lync
  2013 Standard Edition
• A/V Conferencing now always co-located with
  FE

• SQL Mirroring

6. Persistent Chat tightly integrated

• “Group Chat” is now called Persistent Chat
• Single Lync client support Persistent Chat
• You deploy it and manage it like any other
  Lync role (topology builder and PowerShell)
• It can even be collocated on Lync 2010
  Standard Edition Server

• Archiving can be setup to archive to Exhange
  2013

9. VoIP and Video on Mobile
• Officially announced that there will be voice
  (VoIP) and Video on mobile clients in Lync
  2013
• “…from a Windows Phone, or an iOS or
  Android device. Stay productive on the go
  with voice and video over IP, PowerPoint
  sharing, and more collaboration capabilities.”

10. Hybrid Cloud Deployment
                 Options
• Hybrid voice enables customers to leverage the on-premises Enterprise
  Voice environment for Lync Online users as if they were on-premises
  Enterprise Voice users. Lync Online users can place and receive calls from
  the on-premises

Other Enhancements
• IPv6 Support
• Improve EV Options
      – More CLI manipulation options Calling Party
      – New Voice routing Options – Lync can route calls
        between PBX’s (can be at the core of your voice
        system)
      – Gateways not tied to a single mediation pool
