Most Powerful Women in Business
             2012
These women have managed to think out
of the box and showed tremendous
leadership qualities. Some founded their
own companies, while some took up
prestigious roles in family owned business
and a few took up the executive ladder.
They all played an important role in India’s
economic crisis. Listed below are the
women, who really made a difference!
PREETHA REDDY

Managing Director at Apollo Hospitals, Preetha says
many hospitals in India have followed us on
accreditation from Joint Commission International, U.S.
"This has been immensely satisfying as a pioneering
step taken by Apollo is once again impacting the
standards of health care across India." Apollo Hospitals
today are one of the largest healthcare conglomerates
of India and she is one of the pioneer businesswomen
of India in the segment of healthcare industry.
KALPANA MORPARIA

Kalpana Morparia, CEO of JPMorgan India states that the biggest
turning point in her career was when she joined ICICI in 1975. That
led to the comprehensive transformation of an individual who, until
then, had no purpose to life and had to be pushed through school
and even college, be it her graduation or her training in law. The
ICICI job put her on the path to a corporate career. She was named
one of “The 50 Most Powerful Women in International Business” by
Fortune magazine in 2008 and one of the 25 most powerful women
in Indian business by Business Today, a leading Indian business
journal, in the years 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008. Morparia was also

calibrating myself from a counsel into an M&A (mergers and
acquisitions) lawyer was also a personal breakthrough. Many of the
team members who were with us when we started off together are
still with us. I did miss all the excitement of the courtroom in the
beginning. Winning a case in court is the biggest adrenalin boost
one can get." Business Today listed Mody as one of the 25 most
powerful business women in India several times since September
2004 through 2011. She is a recipient of the Financial Express
Knowledge Professional of the Year Award. She was also named one
of India's 100 Most Powerful CEOs by The Economic Times in 2004
