LOCATION:
Kandramanickam (Tamil: கண்டரமாணிக்கம்) is a panchayat town in Sivaganga
district, in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.
It is 18 kilometers away from Karaikudi and 8 km away from Thirupatthur. there are so
more historical temples in kandaramanickam surrounding areas.
It comes under Therku vattagai.
We belongs to Mathur Kovil.
The village of Kandaramanickam was formed by Nagarthars migrating from their various
temple locations and their then temporary locations. Nagarathars established the
Amman Temple, Sivan Temple, built Ooranis etc., to carry out their day to day lives.
During the days of foreign trade, (Kondu Vikkirathu), Kandaramanickam Nagarathars
immigrated to countries like Ceylon, Singapore, Burma amongst a few others.
Many of its Nagarathar citizens emigrated to Singapore and Burma in the earlier days.

Kandaramanickam gets its name from the deity Manickanachiamman, worshipped as
the Goddess that protects the village, and its citizens. Besides The
Manickanachiamman Temple, It also has the Theruku pattu Temple and a Sivan Kovil.
Initially the Amman Temple is in theruku pattu and later nagarthar brings it to the village.
Vilakku Pooja will be celebrated every year. The chithrai Thiruvizha function at the
Amman Temple is a ritual that all Kandaramanicakam Folks look forward to every year.
The first Tuesday of the month of chithrai will be kappu katuthal and the thiruvizha is for
10 day event, with Ther Ottom,Panneer Thiruvila, Palkodam, thee Mithithal, Poo
Pallaku, Thoti Kattuthal, Jalli Kattu and many other events termed as Chithiral Thiruvila.

In each day every kovil nagarathars will be honoured, Sixth day of the function we
(i.e.,MathurKovil) nagarathars will be honoured.
Kandaramanickam has two schools - an elementary school, teaching children up to 5th
standard and a high school teaching children up to the tenth standard exams, SSLC.
Children from nearby villages attend the schools.
In addition to the schools, Kandaramanickam has a bank ( Indian Overseas Bank) , a
post office , and a few shops, Cottage industries (Home made Idiyapa mavu Lakshmi
brand) . Most homes in the village are served by landlines. With the advent of cellular
phones communication is excellent. Gone are the days when we had to wait for a "trunk
call or STD call to other parts of India or abroad.
Kandramanickam is well connected by public transport from both Karaikudi and
Thirupatthur. Both these places are well connected by road transport and Karaikudi is
connected by rail as well.
Besides the Manickanachi Amman Temple, there are the following temples:
Sivan Kovil, common Pillayar Kovil and Vampaiya Kovil (Perumal kovil), Muneeswarar
temple.
Kandaramanickam is a Panchayat , with elected members and forms part of the
Thirupathur Union.

Sri Suganthavaneswarar Temple, Perichi Koil, Via Kandramanickam, Thakshinamurthy
Temple, Pattamangalam Thirty Third Thiruvilayaadal was held in Pattamangalam.
This Temple is one of the famous Siva Temples which was praised by
ManickaVasagar in South Valanadu at Pattamangalam. Especially many people
come here to pray Thaksinaamoorthy for every Thursday.
