3. The first and obvious thing to do is to
determine where the leaking is coming
from.
With that in hand, you can troubleshoot
leaking garbage disposal easily.
4. Turn on the water and let it flows down
the sink drain.
After a few seconds, switch on your
kitchen garbage disposal.
Take a look around the sink area and
garbage disposal to determine where
the leak occurs.

1b. If the 3 mounting bolts are loosen,

clockwise direction.

flange and sink.
11. 5a. Fasten the 3 mounting bolts and
wipe away plumbers putty coming out
from the flange edge.
5b. Mount back the disposer to its
original position.
5c. As usual, check for any leakage.
13. 1a. Check the tension of clamp on the
dishwater hose, tighten it if necessary.
1b. Remove the dishwasher hose and
install a new one if it is leaking.
15. 1a. Check the tightness of the bolts
fastening the discharge pipe, tighten it
if necessary.
1b. Once again, test the disposer for
any leaking.
1c. If you still have not solved the
garbage disposal leaking problem,
then the next step is to change the
gasket.
16. 2a. Unfasten the bolts and take down
the drainpipe.
2b. Discard the old gasket and put in a
new one.
2c. Install back the bolts and drainpipe.
2d. Make sure you tighten it and then
check for any leaking.
18. 1a. The disposal flywheel seal has worn
out and water leaks from there to the
motor.
1b. The only way to repair the fault is to
remove the deteriorated flywheel seal
and put in a new one.
19. 2a. Make sure the power to the disposal
is off.
2b. Uninstall the disposer from the
discharge drainpipe.
2c. Do the same for the dishwater if you
have one.
20. 3a. Dismantle the disposer to take out the
flywheel.
3b. Discard the old seal and put back a
new one.
3c. Assembly the parts and test for
leaking.
3d. If you have doubts or unsure of this
procedure, send it for repair or contact
the plumber.
21. 4a. If at this stage, the garbage disposal
leaking problem still remains you have 2
options.
4b. The first option is to have a garbage
disposal replacement.
4c. The second option is to send it for
repair.
