Current Blog Content I generally blog about a variety of topics related to activism, sexual/reproductive wellness, and women of color. Are there any particular topics that you would like to see on the blog? Issues of poverty, ideas for getting involved in different states . Teenage girls and their sexual self awareness, how to get teens to communicate more about sex. Personally, I enjoy a variety of topics. It says as much to me about the blogger as their particular interests. In which case, I wouldn't say what I would like to "see" as their choices are, in and of themselves, illuminating. The same topics that you blog about are fine. Well I think if possible you can blog about or have a guest blog about the role males play in combating sexism. Also another idea for a blog could be about how we are all taught how to be a "man" and how to be a "woman" .
Current Blog Content I invite guest bloggers to write on topics that interest them. Do you find the added content from guest bloggers useful to the blog? Yes 58.8% (10) No 0% (0) Other 5.8% (1)  Yes, I do. It keeps it interesting and serves to diversify your content . No response 41.1% (7) Women Making Moves! is an interview series that highlights women of color in various fields, making a name for themselves (and impacting others) in the areas of sexual/reproductive health, overall health and wellness, feminism, activism, entrepreneurship, the arts and sciences, and all-around pro-woman goodness. Do you find this series useful to the blog? Yes 58.8% (10) No 0% (0) No response 41.1% (7) Comment: As an entrepreneur, its always affirming to see people that look like me being successful in their endeavors.
Current Blog Content In Case You've Missed It is a weekly round-up of news highlights focusing on sexual health/wellness, pro choice news, gender news, relationships, and women-focused news. Do you find this series useful to the blog? Yes 58.8% (10) No 0% (0) Other 5.8% (1) No response 41.1% (7) Comment: I don’t focus on those posts as much. Take Action lists information on national and international awareness days/months for readers to use to create community programs, activities, and get the conversation going with friends, family, and colleagues. Do you find this useful to the blog? Yes 58.8% (10) No 0% (0) No response 41.1% (7) Comment: I think keeping informed of what's happening in their areas is a great thing
Future Blog Content & Suggestions Beginning January 2012, Ally Alert will be a new feature on the blog that will highlight individuals and organizations who stand with women and girls of color, particularly around reproductive health, social justice, and overall wellness. Do you think this will be useful to readers for the blog? Yes 58.8% (10) No 0% (0) Other 0% (0) No response 41.1% (7) Comments: This is great info to share! It helps to be informed and it’s not always easy to find out who is helping the cause.
Future Blog Content & Suggestions In 2012, I intend to provide readers and organizations with more opportunities to interact with myself and each other. In which ways would you like to see that happen?* In-person workshops/panels/discussions 70.0% (7) Technical assistance training for organizations and groups 10.0% (1) Live focused-topic chatting (ex. Ustream, Twitter hastags, etc.) 90.0% (9) Challenges/contests 40.0% (4) Online workshops 100.0% (10) Products (e-books, organizational tools, community tools, 30.0% (3) educational tools, etc.) Other 0% (0)
Future Blog Content & Suggestions How can I improve my blog? What would you like to see more or less of? I would love to see a section on your blog geared towards Moms and their sexual/emotional health. Sometimes society tries to project Motherhood as an ideal, perfect role but there are many women who struggle with sexual/physical/emotional health after becoming a parent changes their life forever. Thanks! Keep up the good work! Maintain your consistency. I think this blog is great. it would be awesome to hear from young women too. I think you are doing a great job and I'd like to see you maintain this. Provide a way that when you post a notification is sent to your email. Broader perspective of what reproductive health includes
Future Blog Content & Suggestions Would you recommend my blog and/or consulting services to others? Yes 58.8% (10) No 0% (0) No response 41.1% (7) Comment: I'd like to learn more about your consulting services.
Analysis ,[object Object],[object Object]
Analysis Age While I wasn’t surprised that most of the respondents were within my age range (25-30+), I was surprised that none of the respondents were under age 24, especially between 13-18. This could mean a variety of things, including the subject matter of my blog’s content Race Since I’m Black, it’s not really surprising that most of the respondents were Black, as well as most of my readers/followers. Race can oftentimes be something that makes you more relatable. While I will continue to focus on all women of color, not just Black, perhaps this could bring me to a place in the future where I hone in my focus solely on Black women and girls. Country All of the respondents were from the United States (not surprising). But what is somewhat surprising is that, while Google Analytics indicates that most visits to my blog come from the United States, I am getting a growing percentage of people from other countries. I do consider the fact that half the world is asleep when I’m promoting my blog posts. I also tend to focus more on issues pertaining to communities of color within the United States.
Analysis Future Blog Content This comment stood out to me: [Include a] broader perspective of what reproductive health includes. I have noticed lately that I do tend to focus a lot of the In Case You’ve Missed It weekly news updates on abortion-related issues. Reproductive health encompasses a variety of experiences, including child birth, adoption, and abortion. Abortion is a small percentage, but it receives the most focus. Being pro-choice is about making sure that women have complete autonomy other the decisions they make for themselves and their families, and that can mean different experiences for different people. I also noticed this comment: [Can you include more content on] teenage girls and their sexual self awareness, how to get teens to communicate more about sex. While I enjoy working with young college-age women and women over the age of 25, I want to have a bigger impact on young people under 18, especially since I know that there are mothers out there reading my content.
But…here’s what I want to know…
Only 10 completed surveys??? I’m not sure how 7 people managed to partially completed the survey. I used Constant Contact , and I know Constant Contact wouldn’t mess that up. I marked which questions required a response. It would have been extremely helpful if everyone had actually completed the survey and not just the demographics. I did offer a prize for a randomized drawing as the result of completing the survey. Maybe that’s the culprit. Or maybe the survey was too long, and that can be something I can look into for future surveys. Having 10 out of 17 surveys being completely filled out makes the pool very small. Seven people not completing the survey, however, doesn’t diminish the responses of the 10 that did completely respond. I did receive some great feedback, and I feel more confident that I’m moving in the right direction.
Conclusion ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
Thank You! Thanks so much for supporting my work, and a special thanks to you all who completed the survey. I can’t wait to bring you more focused content, fresh ideas, and better ways to connect you. I will create a 2012 Blog Reader Survey in December 2012, and I’m looking forward to the feedback. • 11.
  • 12. I would love to see a section on your blog geared towards Moms and their sexual/emotional health. Thanks! Keep up the good work! Maintain your consistency. I think this blog is great. it would be awesome to hear from young women too. • 19.
