5. What is the difference between a traditional
portrait and the situational type portraits
Nikki paints?
• A traditional portrait
usually includes only
the head and shoulders
of the subject and a
simple draped
background.
6. • Nikki Jacquin has
become known for her
special brand of
portrait work which is
suited to her favourite
subject children. Nikki
Prefers a situational
type portrait. One in
which there is
interaction between the
subjects and their
environment or
between the people.
7. • Her aim is to tell a
story about childhood
and family life as well
as achieve a likeness.
• Her paintings include
impromptu casual
settings meaningful to
your family.
8. Do I need to sit for the artist?
Do I need current photos?
• Spending valuable time
sitting for your portrait
is not necessary.
• Nikki works from your
family photographs.
9. • Nikki will meet with
you to select the best
elements from several
of your photos. She will
combine them for a
pleasing composition.
• It is possible to
combine people from
separate photos. Time
and distance are no
longer barriers.
10. • It is not necessary to
have current photos.
Nikki suggests that it is
most important to
select photos which will
result in a painting that
evokes a special
memory.

• Choose graphite pencil
for black and white
drama,
14. • or choose the fluidity
and spontaneity of
watercolour.

through, an acrylic on
stretch canvas can be
repaired.

• Each work of art is
framed with the highest
quality framing to
ensure the longevity of
your heirloom.
• Only acid-free materials
are used.
