From Facebook's big push in Live Video, to Instagram coming in with
Snapchat's stories format and now Live Videos, Twitter Live Videos etc.
the tussle between social networks has been fierce as each platform battles for
a share of your attention.
There are currently over 2.5 billion active social media users worldwide and
the number is growing at a rate of 9% a year.
The advertising spend is rising even faster.
Social media spends grew 55% from $7 billion to $10.9 billion.
Facebook is the leading with the maximum number of global users
and is the most preferred social network by marketers!
When asked to select their most important platform, 55% of
marketers
chose Facebook, followed by LinkedIn at 18% and 67% of marketers
plan on increasing spends on FB.
A surprising 86% of social marketers regularly use
Facebook ads, while only 18% use Twitter ads.

LIVE VIDEOS
Live video was a big hit in the online
marketing community. And with the
introduction of Facebook Live, a
number of competing brands worked
harder than ever to bring valuable,
interesting live videos to the customers
in the form of interesting stories, Q&A,
behind the scenes, suggestions etc. or
anything that includes participation.
50% of marketers plan on using live
video services such as Facebook Live
and Periscope, and 50% want to learn
more about live video.
What made Live Videos so popular?
Video Appeal : The basic reason is that Videos are more appealing than the written content.
Mostly, people prefer visual content because it is more of a basic form of interaction. Thanks to
the faster internet speeds and mobile devices, it’s easier than ever to watch videos.
“In the Moment” Value : Users on Social Media love to feel “in the moment” to the
events/things of interest to them and Live Videos gave them that perspective. So, rather than

platforms commitment to Expansion, Innovation and Growth.

In 2017, it still going to be Video heavy, the continuation of new additions, News continuing
to be a focus and a Rise in Search.
Facebook now sees 2 Billion searches per day, which means content creators and brand
managers will likely utilize the platform to get more visibility.

In 2016, Twitter evolved as a News platform with U.S. Elections, Demonetisation in India
and covering all the big happenings across the globe.

In 2016, Twitter also announced Moments, in which users could see Snipets of news, other
happenings, string together in various tweets to tell a story. So, this feature has a chance of
making it big in the 2017 and to give more aligned content and microblogs allowing users to

In 2016, Instagram launched Stories and an increase in business tools. It is touted to be the
next Facebook of Mobile Advertising.
