2. Her childhood
• Rita was born in
1952.
• She is the oldest of
six brothers and
sisters.
• When she was little
she played with her
brothers in the park
or a patio behind her
house.Her favourite
games were tag and
hide and seek.
• The family lived in
Madrid.
• She had a big group of
friends from the
neighbourhood.
• She had a great time
when she was little.

4. Her first influences
• Rita’s dad was a
publicist,he had lots of
paints in his desk. Rita
painted with them when
her dad couldn’t see her.
She really enjoyed that.
• One of the things that
called Rita’s attention was
the colours of one of her
mum’s scarves. She was
fascinated by the colors
and sensations that it gave
her.
• She was also interested
in how the perception
of a pencil changes
when viewed through a
jar full of water.
• Rita was very observant
and curious....
5. Academical training
• Her Primary school was in
the city centre of Madrid
and Rita caught the bus
every day.It was a
Catholic-run school , only
for girls.
• At the school she was
famous for drawing
pictures for her friends
and also the teachers
asked her to draw
pictures too.
• When Rita finished
Batchelors Degree , she
enrolled in a private Art
academy which trained
studenyts to access the
Artes y Oficios school.
• When Rita was 17 she
trained herself to draw
human figures and
sculptures in the Círculo
de Bellas Artes.
6. At the University
• Starting at the
University wasn’t
how Rita had
imagined.
• The University was
really far from her
house, most of the
days she couldn’t get
up early and the
materials were very
expensive.
• So she decided to work
to pay for her studies.
• She stopped going to
the University and she
studied from home.
7. • She got married when
she was 20.
• Rita worked in
different jobs :Doing
surveys, tour guide
etc.It was difficult for
her but she learnt lots
of things, that were
useful for her life.
8. In Ibiza
• In 1977 Rita arrived in
Ibiza.
• She worked drawing
portraits in the port.
• She drew at least 5000
portraits.
• However, She continued
studying for the
University .
• Finally she passed all
the exams and she
finished her degree in
1981.
• In 1989 she became
pregnant with her
daughter and she
started giving lesson at
Santa Maria High
school.
11. Rita as an Art teacher..
• 1990 She moved to
“Escuela de Artes y
Oficios to work as a
teacher. She passed the
competitive exams and
has been working there
at the Art school until
now. She is going to
retire next June.
• She has been very
happy at her school
working as a teacher
but soon she will have
more time for painting
and creating, but sure
that she will miss her
time at the school....
12. Her techniques
• She has worked with
most of the traditional
art techniques : oil and
water painting, many
different types of
sketches, pastels,
charcoal and using
stamps.
