2. Agricultural engineering
the agricultural engineering or agronomist career
is based on scientific criteria, using this knowledge
on farming in order to obtain economically
satisfying production from the field, and at the
same time sustainable for the environment and the
community.
choosing agricultural engineering involves
engaging with nature, discover and study it for
maximum benefit conservation criteria.
you are ready to be an agricultural engineer after 5
years of theoretical training - practice that allow
you to apply your study in the field.
3. Agricultural engineering
As an agronomist, you'll use the latest
technological advances to advance environmental
issues and activities. From dealing with machinery
components and equipment and testing agricultural
machinery to ensure it's safe and working properly,
to providing leadership on water and environmental
concerns, you'll play a vital role in anticipating and
solving 22nd century challenge
From several studies of soils and crops,
agronomist implements techniques to plan,
conduct and improve crops by making appropriate
use of the factor of production, such as water
temperature and light.
4. Agricultural engineering
What does an agronomist do?
The Agronomist must know the agricultural
problems and rural areas, to comment on it and
suggest alternative solutions, promoting regional
and national development.
Forming an Agronomist enables them to be able to
perform various tasks. For one side every
Agronomist can plan an agricultural activity through
a series of stages:
5. Agricultural engineering
• Set the type of crop, the precise time of planting,
the investment required for the culture and
technology for agriculture.
• Then comes the time of planting and
maintenance, that means the permanent control
by us, agronomists, both in irrigation, as in solving
problems that may arise due to change of weather
or pests.
• After that, harvest time comes, you have to
evaluate when would be the right time to do it.
• The post-harvest is the last stage and refers to the
storage, transport and marketing.
6. Agricultural engineering
Workplace of an agronomist
A professional in this discipline may not always be in the
field, an agricultural engineer performs an important job
assistance, provides technical assistance to farmers
maintaining the resources of each region, can also
provide technical advice to companies regarding
pesticides, fertilizers and agricultural inputs.
An agricultural engineer can work in the public sector as
ministries of agriculture, universities, special projects. Or
in the private sector as agricultural or agro-industrial
enterprises by exploitation of the agriculture, enterprises
of commercialization of agricultural products,
international organizations and research centers.
7. Agricultural engineering
What is needed to study and be an agronomist
Agronomist future must have an inclination
to work in the field, have the capacity of
analysis and planning, willingness to work
in groups and ability to make decisions and
opt for practical solutions
8. Agricultural engineering
Where you can study agricultural
engineering?
There are many universities that have the
agricultural engineering career in
Argentina and in the world. But now I'm
going to focus on the ones that are in
Buenos Aires, near where I live and on the
subjects the career has in both.
• I have chosen two universities, these are:
