2. • Warehouse management system
(WMS) is a key part of the supply
chain and primarily aims to control
the movement and storage of
materials within a warehouse and
process the associated
transactions, including shipping,
receiving, putaway and picking.
3. The objectives of warehouse
management system is:
•Provide a set of computerize
procedures for management of
warehouse inventory with the goal of
minimizing cost and fulfillment
times
5. AUTOMATED
STORAGE SYSTEM
•Enables a load to be stored and
retrieved by a mechanical arm
•The potential barrier is the cost
of the system
•It cost more to establish than
the most start-up business could
afford
6. Pallet racking
• Pallet racking is a cheap, safe and
efficient method of storage.
• By storing pallets in a framework it is
possible to access any particular pallet at
any time.
• Benefit → Can always reach your
necessary stock when it is needed
7. Drive in storage
• Is a method which rows of
pallets are driven into a
small space and placed
from back to front.
•Its allows for more space
to be utilised because there
are no gaps for access
between the rows.
8. Pallet flow
• This conveyer belt system allows for
stored items to be removed only in the
order that they were placed.
• From the back, items are placed onto a
conveyor which allows access from the
front.
•This system works well for companies
which have a high level of output from
their warehouse.
9. • Its works like vending machine with the
next product moving to the front once the
first has been removed.
•To store in these systems pallets are
pushed onto rails which force them up into
storage.
• When a pallet in then up removed, their
weight brings the next pallet forward.
