surviving children of Oedipus. The other two brothers Polyneices and Eteocles quarreled and killed
each other in a battle when Polyneices returned to assault Thebes, then Creon, Antigone uncle
became the king of Thebes being the only heir in line to the throne. Creon ordered Polyneices be left

have guided against either avoiding making laws that runs contrary to the laws of the gods or by
putting himself in an uncompromised position. He could have been briefed of most of the rules
and regulation as a formal process before a prince is allowed to ascend the thrown. In absence of
that, the office he occupied justify that he knows the law. I am aware of course, that no ruler can

My first victim was a woman – white, well dressed, probably in her early twenties. I came upon her
late one evening on a deserted street in Hyde Park, a relatively affluent neighborhood in an
otherwise mean, impoverished section of Chicago. As I swung onto the avenue behind her, there
seemed to be a discreet, uninflammatory distance between us. Not so. She cast back a worried
glance. To her, the youngish black man– a broad six feet two inches with a bear and billowing hair,
both hands shoved into the pockets of a bulky military jacket – seemed menacingly close. After a

Three areas that the author could improve on are: thesis, format of the body, and format of the
conclusion.
This author has a very unclear thesis. In the introductory paragraph, the author's arguments are
outlined, but he does not write a concise thesis to generalize his foremost thought. Usually the thesis
is written as the last sentence of the introductory paragraph. However, this author ends the
introduction with, "The reasons and examples listed below will strengthen my point of view."
Instead of concluding with a frivolous statement, the author could have briefly listed his reasons.
Unfortunately, he overlooks the thesis. Consequently, readers are forced to read between the lines,
and this can cause some misinterpretations such that the readers' understanding does not match the

The significance of the opening chapter or intro was to set up a tone and style of the author. The
first chapter shows how the story may not be as happy and calm as it may seem. It talks about
how cruel the world is and how houses are being burned down because of having books in your

Paragraph 1 – Content of class instruction. Information covered during the class. During week eight
we began class by letting our classmate read her opening statement. Everything said she said in her
opening statement covered the guidelines of what is required. One thing that my classmate
mentioned that other students in class did not explain in their opening statement was the conflict of
interest. Before a mediator can mediate they need to make sure there is not a conflict of interest.
The best way to address this issue is to state whether you have worked with any group or special

was now a contaminated wasteland. The land looked dry, destroyed and lonely. The morning

effect of almost being within the story. We travel through the house with the omnipresent narrator,

evening. The use of this omnipresence forces the reader to truly imagine the setting, with ornate
decorations and an abundance if splendour. The audience gets a view of the lavish lifestyle of the

Paragraph Of 'The Body' By Stephen King
Intro Paragraph: The story "The Body," written by Stephen King, shows how 4 boys slowly start
to forget about their childhood, but at the same time, it shows how the realities of adulthood comes
down and crashes their imagination. In the story, there are parts that show that they are just kids
being kids and not knowing any better, but there are also parts where they are just immature and
are being ignorant to the consequences. Chris and Gordie soon learn to accept the realities of
adulthood and the idea that they can't go back now that they have reached so far. Later on in the
story, it shows how they shift from that kid inside them to a wise and reliable adult. From reading the
book, it is clear that the ignorant and immature side of Chris and Gordie has vanished into a more
mature nature that gives those two a better opportunity.
Paragraph 1: In the beginning of the boys' journey, they are ignorant about the consequences of
finding the body and make a plan they barely think through, just walking into danger. In chapter 7,
Chris brings two guns from his dad's drawer without permission saying that his dad would be too
drunk to notice and gives one to Gordie. Gordie shoots, not knowing of the bullet in the cartridge
and KA – BLAM! Chris laughs wildly, now knowing what kind of damage the gun can do, but
Chris and Gordie, being ignorant, just take it along with them for "safety" measures or just to

stands in front it. Sure Teddy might not know much about death YET, but that doesn't mean he

Analysis of the Opening Chapter of Pride and Prejudice
The opening sentence of 'Pride and Prejudice' tells is the main theme of the entire novel, marriage.
'It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in
want of a wife.'
The novel is based upon the theme of marriage, finding a potential husband who has 'sufficient
funds'. Jane, Elizabeth, Lydia, Kitty and Mary all wish to find themselves husbands so that they

This quotation explains to us that the women do not need to know how these men feel or their
thoughts. Even if he has just entered the village they (villagers) are all just thinking whether or not
he would make a good future husband depending on his wealth and size of his estate. The women
did not really care about their husbands, but as long as they provided them with financial security,
the wives were happy. Any man could be thought of as a marriage possibility, so this is why this is
such a main, important theme for the book.
In the novel , the Bennet sisters need to gain financial status through marriage, but Elizabeth does
not want to marry for these reasons. Their culture was to be married, but you could either marry
for the reasons above, or like Lizzy you could marry for love, which was very rare during this period
