Martin Kaymer celebrates after securing the U.S. Open crown at Pinehurst by an incredible eight
shots, becoming the first German to win the tournament in the process.
Erik Compton, who had two heart transplants before getting a place on the PGA Tour, secured his
best ever finish in golf by tying for second place and securing a berth at next year's Masters.
A double bogey on the fourth hole hurt Fowler's challenge but he steadied the ship after that to
share second with Compton.
For the first time, the Women's U.S. Open will be held at the same course the week after the men's
event has finished. Lydia Ko -- the world No. 3 from New Zealand -- was at Pinehurst to watch the
final round.
