Wisdom From A Laugh 1, 2
1. The Will
A widow was at the lawyer’s office to hear the will
of her late husband. When she learnt that her late
husband had left the major portion of his fortune
to his mistress, she was enraged. Filled with
anger and hatred, she went to see the stonecutter
to have the inscription on her husband’s
tombstone changed.
“I’m sorry, ma’am,” the stonecutter told her. “I
inscribed ‘REST IN PEACE’ based on your orders.
It’s too late to change it now.”
“Very well,” the fuming widow said grimly, “in that
case, just add these words : ‘UNTIL WE MEET
AGAIN’”.
Reflection
* Anger, ill will and hatred oftentimes drive a
person to do the things you least expect ... and
these include acts to inflict fear and pain in
others.
* One who cannot let go of some unfortunate past
happenings can react in negative ways ... and
these bring suffering to oneself.
* When one learns to forgive, one will develop a
mind of lightness, peace, happiness and freedom.

2. The Watermelons
A farmer in the country had a watermelon patch
and upon
inspection, he discovered that some of the local
kids had been
helping themselves to a feast.
The farmer thought of ways to discourage this
dishonest eating
of the watermelons. He put up a sign that read:
“WARNING – ONE OF THESE WATERMELONS
CONTAINS CYANIDE!”
The farmer returned a week later to discover that
none of the watermelons had been eaten but
found a sign that read :
“NOW THERE ARE TWO!”
Reflection
In trying to solve a problem, a wrong strategy,
instead of resolving the matter, complicates the
problem even more. Lying in an attempt to resolve
a problem situation can bring about disastrous
consequences to the liar. To resolve problems or
trouble, one needs to use honest, creative ways
based on understanding, compassion and wisdom.
